I bought this in May of '23 and have been struggling to make it work ever since. Paid several hundred to have it installed professionally. It would not reliably stay connected to wifi - it uses the 2.4GHz band exclusively which a mesh repeater won't help you with, and that technology will be going away anyway - and even worse, the latch would jam at random times and strand my dog outside in the deadly heat. He became extremely leery of it and would only go through it on his own if we left it completely unlocked and were actually at home in the house. Well, so much for being housebroken; if we left the house he'd eliminate inside to keep from being trapped by the thing. We tore out all of our carpeting and replaced it with solid surfaces. So that completely negates the point of having a dog door, and having to leave it unlocked was just a huge security liability. I spent hours and hours rebooting the thing, wrestling with the app to keep it connected, deleting and reinitializing every time it would disconnect itself. They sent me a replacement door which I spent another few hundred installing, with the same issues. I finally asked them for my purchase price back, courteously and after many, many hours of online troubleshooting with them, because it's got a year warranty which we're six months into and I cannot fight this battle anymore. I want my home to be safe and my floors not to be ruined; it's such a small ask. They refused to honor it, even after going up the supervisor chain, and I am out thousands of dollars because I thought they were a good company and would do the right thing. And the kicker is I'd gotten this to replace a High Tech brand door that worked flawlessly for twelve years, thinking this would be the smart upgrade. Update: I contacted support once a weekday rolled around, and they're shipping me a replacement free of charge. Seems like a soft recall situation. So not great out of the box experience, but they're standing behind the product and their reputation. Original review: Unable to setup this door, since the required app no longer supports this model.     • worst wifi product ever

Never in my house would there be a device losing wifi connection more often than this product, whether using 5G or 2.4G. Have had this product for over an year. The first few replacement always failed, until they pushed a firmware update. Since then it would work for a few month without having to reset the wifi connection. The lock and unlock button also get jammed from time to time, probably due to internal gear creeping or other reasons. my current replacement has worked for about 6 months. now it lost wifi connection again in the last two weeks. Resting wifi does not work all the time. It is more by luck to get back to the internet. I strongly suspect that there is great design flaw in the electrical component, especially in the wifi module. Also, your support ticket via the app will never reach anyone. The only way to get a support is to call. when you call they do answer and try to help you at their best. I feel so sorry for the customer service people that they have to handle such a poorly designed product. However, for customers to spend so much money, having to cut in their door (especially a metal door in my case), and weather seal it again and again (due to product replacement), in exchange for a product failing more than half of the time is totally unacceptable. Overall, I think the company had a bad electrical design, and bad qualify check for this product line. ... show more

Finally got to install this. Initial function is good. Does make a sound similar to door deadbolt locks which will make training one of our dogs a bit of a challenge. But anyways. We planned on installing the door thru wall. Ordered the extra tunnel extensions. We blanked out a window (best location for us). Able to frame it out with 2x4’s. Cut the openings. This is where I hit a problem. I then realized the interior portion is designed to be secured from the backside. It would be near impossible to hit the holes thru the 3.5” portion of the 2x4. Had to open it up and try to not lose any screws. Ended up drilling 4 holes on the interior panel to secure it down (making sure to not hit any wires). I have it in place temporarily now until we finish up the drywall. Network connection seems stable. App function has been good. Will try to update in a few months. ... show more

    • Do Not Purchase. Too many issues. Not enough support.

Had very limited space to install a door. This one was the only one that fit the space. Issues ensued very soon after attempting to install. 1. Mainly that we needed to cut into the outside plastic cover, which would void the warrantee (if you damage or alter the unit). We tried to order a separate part, but they don't offer them separately. We improvised with two by fours which actually made it deal more properly. 2. Customer care, although professional, doesn't seem to be empowered to help resolve issues or concerns 3. The application doesn't work when attempting to set it up to Wi-Fi. Says its outdated. The app is up to date. So the product isn't fully functional as advertised out of the box. Unable to lock and unlock remotely. Any animal can come in without the tag until this is setup. 4. No troubleshooting guide provided to troubleshoot. If you sell a product that cost over $500, you might want to offer customer support and resolve issues quickly. Other notes - it's noisy, but not too bad if you have 1 dog that uses it once and a while. Uses batteries or can be plugged in if installed in a wall. ... show more
