So like many reviews you've already read have said, this system works amazingly. The litter, the tray, the powered box itself, they all result in an end product that is greater than the sum of its parts. Cat smell is near non existent unless you just happen to be unlucky enough to go right next to the box in the 2 minute window between when your cat took a giant stinky and the time your box takes it away. Once it's raked, the smell is totally gone. Even more important (for me) than the complete lack of odor is the ease of cleaning it. Slide used tray out, cover it with included lid, slide new tray in. The whole process takes less than 15 seconds and there's absolutely 0 cleaning involved. The machine is durable, and I'm only on my 2nd one even though I started using this system 6 years ago. After 5 years and a few months, the motor finally started to go. It still worked most times, but every 5th or 6th rake the tines would stop half way through and I'd have to give them a nudge. Rather than dealing with all that, I got more life out of it than I had expected upon first purchasing, so I scrapped it and got a new one (which was a revamped model, seems they changed them over the years). New model is improved in every way. Smaller footprint in all 3 dimensions while keeping the same litter space, function buttons are better laid out and easier to use, and digital display is much easier to see. It even still uses the same tray system, so the 3 trays I hadn't used yet didn't go to waste. The only thing I don't know yet as I've only had the new one about a year is if it will have the same longevity as the original. It's basically a perfect product for what it's designed (and claimed) to do, surpassing literally every expectation I had....by a good margin in some respects. So what's the catch? Easy, this is a great example of getting what you pay for. This system is expensive not only initially but on an ongoing basis. It's basically a subscription service as you're tied into using just the replacement trays they sell. Sure, they sell a reusable tray that you can wash, but not only does that defeat half the purpose of owning this machine, but the cost savings isn't all that much as you'll still be buying their litter, only in bag form instead of in the disposable tray. Doing it this way WOULD save you about 20%, but it actually doesn't. The reason for this is that being a reusable tray, it's just plastic on the bottom, while the disposable tray has a bottom that's seemingly designed to partially absorb urine through its top layer (bottom of tray is waterproof, so it doesn't go all the way through). This seems to serve 2 purposes upon testing. 1st is it means the litter lasts longer between needing tray/litter changes. 2nd is that it traps the smell much better, which makes sense. So you save about 20%, but then have to change the litter about 20% more often AND clean it AND there's more smell between cleanings. It's a net negative to do it this way. What nobody has really discussed in reviews is what this convenience cost ACTUALLY is, so I did some simple math to give you an idea. 2 cats = tray change every 2 weeks Using the average price of these trays (they fluctuate quite a bit so I stock up whenever the price is slashed), each tray comes to about $21. So with 2 cats, that's $42 every 4 weeks, or $546 a year. If you're in a high tax state like California, may as well round that up to $600 after the 9.5% tax is factored in. That's in addition to the $200 up front price for the litter box itself, and will be an ongoing expense as long as you have cats.... So for most of us, it'll be an expense for life. Lol. Fortunately if you're a 1 cat household, you can cut those prices in half as the # of uses really is the only factor in how frequently the tray needs to be replaced. Also note, my math might be a little on the lesser expensive side since one of my cats is normal size, but my other is a tiny thing at 4.8 pounds fully grown, so I'd think logically she doesn't tax the system as much as a regular size cat. I've read many reviews where people with 2 cats get only 12, or even just 10 days out of a tray. Highly likely my 14 days is because of the little one. So in summation, if the aforementioned expenses are something you really won't notice or find reasonable, this is an absolute no brainer and you should stop reading this right now and buy one. If on the other hand you'll absolutely notice this kind of spent money, then you should weigh your options.

I have been using petsafe ScoopFree Disposable Crystal cat litter for several years now in the petsafe cat box. And this stuff is worth every penny! Because I can remember our house just smelling like a cat outhouse no matter how clean we kept the box. I don't know what it is with this stuff that not only is the waste raked away. But the smell doesn't just continue. And you are not buying box after box of cat litter because, this box doesn't have to be cleaned as often. So in the long run it does save money, when you consider how much cat litter you would be going through otherwise, and unlike with the other litter we are better able to watch out for the health of our cat this way. And when they waste is raked away the litter does a very good job of clumping it so there's nothing left behind to still create the bad odor.

I adore my cats, but after having a major illness and being treated over several years with different types of chemotherapy I just could no longer muster the strength to lift and to even to scoop the litter box anymore. I thought that by having my traditional scooping litter delivered right to my door that my litter box struggle would be considerably less. I was wrong. I could just barely manage getting down on my knees in order to scoop the box, but what I could not do was carry out the heavy bag of scooped clumps and remaining dirty litter in the box or lift the heavy bag up over the side of the dumpster to dispose of it. I also could not manage to wash and sanitize the box every 7 or 9 days as I always have. I was becoming very concerned about the health and happiness of my pets and myself. I worried about the bacteria that was multiplying at an incredible speed, the odor, and more than anything that the cats would either hold their urine or attempt to find alternative places to eliminate because I was unable to properly dispose of their obviously filthy and smelly waste or keep their litter and box as fresh as possible. Enter the fresh scoop box, and WOW has it changed my life and my cats lives! Now when it comes to the litter box, essentially it scoops itself. After 12-14 days I lift the very light housing up away from the disposable litter tray, take the litter tray box top out from under the litter tray which now contains the dirty litter and cover the used litter tray with the clean box top. I then take 4 pieces of inexpensive packing tape or two of giant rubber bands and tightly secure each side of the box. It is amazing to me that approx 14 days of used odor free litter ( produced by 2 cats) is contained in a (after taping it closed) compact, clean, approx size is 25"x15 and approx 2-3" thick (deep),extremely light weight, and in white unmarked box. I can carry the box outside under my arm and can with absolutely no effort at all drop it right into the dumpster. I used to have layer 3 new stretch scented trash bags inside of each other to make a reinforced bag that was certain not to tear with the weight of the used litter, get on my knees next to box and try scoop the very thick, sludgy, wet, and heavy globs of used litter twice a day. The trash pick up is three times a week, because the urine odor attracts rats, I would have wait with an extremely heavy stinking garbage bag with 2-3 days worth of dirty litter until just before the garbage pick occurred to throw out the dirty litter. I would always panic when I had to rush around after hearing the dump truck coming down the street trying to get the very heavy garbage bag outside and in the dumpster before the truck arrived. Many times, even if I could use a small cart to carry the bag out, I just could not lift the bag up into the dumpster. The whole issue was just becoming a HUGE problem and worry for me. I am so relieved and happy to say, that thanks to the technology of scoop free litter box and efficiency that Amazon offers concerning shipping and delivery, I am no longer worrying or struggling just trying to take care of my pets. It is really awesome!! The only downside and I hate to point out any negatives with this lifesaver, is the price. It is really expensive for me now that I am on a fixed income due to my health. I worry about the price continuing to escalate at a rapid rate over time. As for the product 5 stars as for the price I wish that there was a better lower price offered for buying the 6 pack of refills or a refill program or club that the company-not Amazon- offered for a significant savings for consistent consumers. I will say that the best and cutest added bonus of the scoop free litter box system is that the cats LOVE ❤️ to race over to the box after they hear the "arm" mechanism engage, and they wait crouching down until the "show" starts. My smarty pants bengal has figured out how the whole thing works. She will round up her trusty, but less smart partner in crime, step halfway inside of the box and with over exaggerated scratching movements attempting to "set off" the cleaning mechanism. After a few seconds of wild movement, she quickly backs up and out of the box then crouches down with her buddy on the mat waiting for the show to start. Hilarious! I highly and definitely recommend this litter box. This box especially addresses concerns for anyone who struggles daily ( due to health, mobility, age, living arrangements, etc) or simply really dislikes the whole process of lugging home crazy heavy boxes of dusty litter, scooping the box religiously, disposing of the dirty litter, the odor produced from the litter box, and suffering from allergies as well as extra dusting/sweeping around the home due to the dust processed from even the newest scoopable litter.

Caught this for a steal and love that it’s fragrance + dye free. That said, odor control is not as forgiving as added fragrance! Lasts about 3 weeks naturally with minimal extra effort for my cat girl; you can clean the poop tray and add additional litter to prolong use — which I can then stretch use for a solid month!

If you own a ScoopFree litter box, you already know these trays are basically a subscription to your cat's lifestyle choices. 😂 Do I love buying litter refills? No. Do I love not scooping litter every day? Absolutely. The crystals do a great job controlling odors, and the disposable trays make cleanup ridiculously easy. My cats approved immediately, which is impressive because they usually act personally offended by any change in their environment. The trays fit perfectly, last a reasonable amount of time, and save me from one of my least favorite household chores. The only downside is that every time I reorder them, I briefly consider asking my cats to get jobs and start contributing to the household budget. Would definitely buy again... mostly because my cats have made it clear that I have no choice. 🐱💸🤣

We have 3 cats, and I use 3 self-cleaning liter boxes ( uncovered). Started using the product since late July. I realize it is more expensive than regular ones; however we benefit from dust level , max odor control, clumping, lasts extra long time which is a benefit in the end... clean and more efficient. Happy with the product. It is taking a bit longer for one cat to accept it ( not related to the product). But well worth the patience to get her adjusted to it.
