  • Cart is useless, uncomfortable backpack, poor quality control
Size: HD4100-Pro
Firstly the cart is useless. A. The wheels' diameter is too short. You can pull this on level concrete and possibly it will move through 1 inch Bermuda grass on a level lawn. But in a standard USA lawn in the USA where the grass is not supposed to be cut any shorter than 3 inches, and for some grass is no shorter than three and a half and 4 inches, the base rubs on the grass and you're just dragging the base with all the weight of the liquid, along the ground. The wheels are useless except on concrete and possibly 1 inch Bermuda grass. You're really be frustrated and annoyed if you try to pull this thing on any kind of a sloping lawn. B. Also, the wheelbase is too narrow. On a level lawn, this model sprayer falls over and twists around in circles as you try to pull it. It frequently twists around so that you're dragging the side of the wheel or the edge of the tank along the ground rather than the cart rolling across the lawn on its wheels. On a hillside the combination of narrow wheelbase and two short a diameter wheels, the thing falls over and flips around side over side. This is exacerbated by a metal pole between the base and the handle, that has so little friction when tightened as tight as you can tighten it without cracking the tightening collars, the handle and the pole twist around in your hand when you're pulling it across the lawn. See the next item... Secondly, the handle is a metal rod with plastic compression collars screwing onto a plastic threaded handle and the sprayer's plastic threaded base. You CANNOT tighten these collars tight enough even using channel locks, to keep the handle and the sprayer from twisting around as you're trying to pull it, and you can't keep the handle and pull from pulling off and or the pole from pulling out from the base. It happens frequently and repeatedly pulling it in grass, and even after a while, pulling it walking along a level sidewalk or driveway spraying the yard beside you. This problem is most severe and frequent when you fill the tank up to three or four gallons, the handle pulls off of the metal rod, and the rod pulls out of the base. Pulling across 3-in high and taller grass, it falls apart easily and frequently with about 2 and more gallons of water. You can keep trying different slightly increasing amounts of force using channel locks until the collar splits apart and are ruined- You're simply cannot tighten the handle to the pole and the pole to the base tight enough to keep it from twisting around and from pulling out, pulling apart and the sprayer falling over. Thirdly, the thing looks a little Rube Goldberg to me, and quality control is poor. Mine arrived with the cap of the screw-on-cap plastic fuse holder and the fuse laying in the bottom of the box. When I tried to put the fuse and cap back on the fuse holder, the fuse holder had never been tightened to the plastic base. It would simply turn and turn with no resistance to hold it in place. Doing that very many turns but of course pull the wires apart inside, pull the wires off of the fuse holder to whatever the wires were fastened to inside the base of the sprayer. I called the company and they wanted me to disassemble the base from all the other parts and return just the base to them for them to repair this. Apparently this is something that they're quite experienced with because as soon as I began to describe it the service person immediately interrupted me telling me that I needed to take that piece of the base of the sprayer off into which the wiring are assembled and fastened. Without taking a breath he even was telling me which screws I needed to take off and where they were. That doesn't inspire me with confidence when you pay this much money for something and customer service immediately knows when you call what you're talking about and expect you to deal with the labor part of it. Since I had to disassemble the base to send that back to them, once I had done so, it was obvious the metal nut had never been tightened onto the threaded plastic fuse holder. So I tightened that nut myself, being careful not to crack the fuse holder, and reassembled the sprayer. Maybe this is related, but today writing this review for the first time I see they're selling this in a time of high inflation, now the price on Amazon is $30 less than what I paid for it 3 months ago. It still isn't worth the money because unless you're going to use it as an electrical powered backpack sprayer, don't count on the base being useful. But you must also know, Fourthly, this thing really is uncomfortable as a backpack sprayer. it's basically a conglomeration of plastic parts fastened together, and they stick a cheap, utilitarian nylon strap on it to fasten it to your body. It should not be called a backpack sprayer. Anyone who's ever worn a backpack sprayer understands what I'm talking about. And if you ever used a real backpack that you would use to carry this amount of weight for hiking, the fastening system on a manual backpack sprayer really sucks. So imagine how bad this one is cuz it's a lot worse. If you're going to buy this to use the trailer for your yard, such as to pull it because you've had some serious back surgery or knee problems or something, maybe you have a neater way to do this, but I'm so fed up with this I'm thinking about getting a couple of big tubes of silicone glue, pop off the sprayer wheels, and glue the plastic base into a child's wagon that has a wide enough wheelbase wheelbase, and large enough diameter wheels, that you can pull it across a lawn including along a hillside without the wagon falling over with the weight and center of gravity, of a child, or in this case, this battery powered sprayer, in the wagon. ... show more

  • Did the Job
Size: HD4100-Pro
I purchased this as a step up from a standard manual pump garden sprayer that you typically get for around $20. I wanted something like this so that I would be able to work faster with less difficulty. In that regard, this fit the bill perfectly. My first project was to spray approximately 20 gallons of concrete sealer on my driveway. I contacted the company to make sure that spraying sealer would be OK and they stated as long as it is water-based there should be no problem. Their support is very responsive. There are two things that I was not nuts about with the sprayer. First, I do not like the fact that it runs all the time as long as it’s powered on. My thinking is that it would only run when it required pressure. That is not the case with the sprayer, it constantly runs. I actually called the company on this issue to confirm. This brings me to the second issue, battery life. The Amazon description claims 6 to 8 hours of battery life. Running at full pressure, I was only able to achieve 2.5 hours. I contacted the company to see if I could plug in the charger and run it that way and they said that it was not recommended because it could degrade the battery. I had to finish the job with my $20 hand pump sprayer because I couldn’t wait the several hours it takes to recharge this battery. Overall, it is not a bad sprayer you just have to have realistic expectations which is that this is a step up from a standard manual pump garden sprayer but it is not a commercial high-volume sprayer. As most of the parts are made of plastic, I am anxious to see how the sprayer will hold up. I am on the fence as to whether I would buy this again. Most of my spraying jobs will likely not take 2.5 hours so I think it will work for me most of the time. When I originally shopped for this type of sprayer anything with wheels was at a considerably higher price. I don’t plan to use the back pack feature as I don’t like carrying 4 gallons of liquid on my back so having the wheels are important to me. It may not be perfect, but this could be the best buy for the money in what you get. The company does offer higher price sprayers for those wanting something more heavier duty. ... show more

  • Great Sprayer, Fantastic Customer Support
Size: HD4100-Pro
I did a lot of research in trying to decide which sprayer to buy and after careful consideration decided on the HD4100-PRO. I Received the item in good condition, it went together very easily, and worked pretty well. I had an issue with the on/off switch with the unit, but the variable speed switch worked fine. So I was able to use the unit and was very pleased with how It performed. I emailed customer support and was able to receive a lot of assistance from Jen at Petratools Support who was able to help me troubleshoot the issue and determined that she should replace the unit because of a defective part. Her assistance was invaluable and gave me assurance that Petratools Support is behind their products. It is this kind of customer support which will always bring me back to companies like this when they treat people who spend good American money on a product and expect a good American product. The end result is I have a fine sprayer that’s been replaced due to a defective part, a company that I can believe in, and people like Jen who gave the right kind of customer support to make me feel like I’m being heard and listened to. If customer support and quality of product is your goal I can see no further tan to buy a sprayer unit from Petratools. ... show more

  • Good gift
Worked great ! But …. The handle comes off and it is too heavy with chemicals in it to strap it on your back … I suggest a longer handle that will stay on as you pull it through rougher terrain other than a well manicured yard .. we bought for major use and it does the job but you are steady adjusting the handle back on or your killing yourself trying to carry it … a flaw in the design shorter people may not have an issue … he is over 6 ‘ 4 so that handle is way too short ... show more
