My PetraTools HD4000 Backpack sprayer is top notch for my yard fertilization maintenance. Comfortable to wear and carry with a strong long lasting rechargeable internal battery. Very pleased with its ease of use and simple cleaning procedure. Great assortment of nozzle accessories are provided for different applications. Their web site is excellent with easy to understand and thorough How to Videos for every aspect of instructions for all their products. Great for us novices learning lawn care. My yard is coming along beautifully with fantastic results. My first few uses were precise and efficient when applying their “Neighbors Envy” liquid lawn fertilizer, Chealated Iron, liquid Dethatcher and surfactants. Petra liquid lawn products are top notch and my lawn has been rejuvenated. The more I spray the healthier it gets. After my second use of cleaning, I somehow lost the filler cap filter for the sprayer. Couldn’t find it. I looked to no avail. I then called PetraTools to order a replacement. I had the pleasure of talking to Customer Representative Christina who promptly sent a free replacement filter cap. No questions asked, just great customer service with an outstanding warranty on their backpack sprayers. I highly recommend PetraTools and Liquid products. Well what I can say is companies with good true customer service are where it’s at! Sprayers that just work and don’t leak and don’t spill down your back and again just work are great. Petra tools is by far the best sprayer over used and I’ve used tons growing up on a farm in PA and owning my own working farm now this sprayer has saved me beyond hours of annoyance that other sprayers would cause. Going on our second season now with it, we run many many tanks full through this from 2-4d to fertilizers for the lawn from Petra and other ag mixes as well as other sprays. It doesn’t hurt your back or leak down your back like nearly all other sprayers I’ve used do. That’s really the key if the comfort to the sprayer and quality. We did have a slight hairline crack in the wand not sure how it happened but again we use this on our farm so it may have dropped or got hit at some point but we contacted Petra warranty and they didn’t hardly ask any questions I showed a picture to Anne and she helped me get a replacement shipped out! Their warranty claims was the other reason I chose to buy their products. We have their 1 gallon sprayer as well and it’s great! This was not a paid review or a reimbursed review this is just me being thankful that there’s still business out there making quality products and stand behind them! Love supporting fellow PA business.

Hand cranking 9 gallons of spray was killing my shoulder. Enter the HD4000. I'll get into details below but i am very happy with this purchase. Quick likes: very comfortable wand that does not drip, good selection of nozzles, easy to fill, adjustable pressure that is easy to reach while on your back, comes with extra seals. Some dislikes: plastic fittings with fine threads (especially for the nozzles) could be susceptible to damage. The pump to hose connection works loose - then you get wet and cold. The harness is ok but if I was doing 24 gallons in a day, is want a better harness. Some details.... The trigger - no drips. You let go, it stops. If I'm walking around with roundup i can't have drips. Extremely comfortable. Small complaint - I locked by mistake and had a hard time unlocking quickly because i wasn't used to it yet. The harness - it gets the job done. To keep pricing competitive I'd be ok with a pro harness upgrade for those that want it. 4 gallons of sloshing water is heavy - having a harness with some shock absorption and wider straps with much better padding would be something i would pay extra for as an option. If you only use it a couple times a month for one or two tanks, the price is right. Pressure adjustment - very useful and easy to reach while wearing the pack. It will shoot very far using the brass nozzle at the highest pressure. A far exceeds expectations on convenience and function. I feel like I'm going to lose the charger - I'd like a durable pouch the can get attached to the sprayer when you are not using it. One open air side for anything wet and a sealed section for the charger. I can put it in a ziploc bag and leave inside sprayer when not in use but don't like putting stuff inside the tank. Not a deal breaker though. The battery - i wanted a lithium ion but form factors are all unique to vendor. I use Dewalt and got to thinking that a charger/battery system is to expensive and the industry standard sealed lead acid battery can be purchased anywhere for cheap. The heaviest portion of the sprayer is the product and the slight extra weight of the battery is insignificant compared to the product. Long term cost wins and these batteries are proven performers. Cleaning - i try to not make to much of what i am using so that i run out. Very easy to dump out excess from either side and rinse, add a little water and run through to clean the wand. I leave both caps off to dry it out. Easy. Durability - don't know yet and i am not a daily user. I expect to have to replace the battery about every 3 years - same battery my alarm system uses - cheap, standard, no big deal and it could last longer. More likely to die from lack of regular use than from wearing out. Seals seem like good quality and you get a bag full of extras. Bottom line - i would buy again and stand by comments that I'd pay extra for a pro harness. You want to have a good price point to have a larger market, so the upgraded harness as an extra makes sense.

Great product even better support. Had this unit for almost 4 years now I contacted via chat and Anne was extremely helpful at walking me through things to do and even offered replacement parts. It’s awesome to see companies make great products but also back them if issues arise. As for the sprayer works well and functions as advertised. Just for clarification initially, I contacted them because the older version was a little confusing on power the on-off switch and dial. This is directly from Support in case any of you need additional help. On an I/O switch, the "I" represents the "ON" position and the "O" represents the "OFF" position. If you want a constant maximum pressure, the red switch should be on and the pressure dial should be off meaning it's turned all the way to the left until you hear a clicking sounds. If you need a variable pressure, the red switch should be off and just use the pressure dial.
