    • Very Sturdy and Much Roomier Than It Appears in Pictures
I was actually a bit surprised to feel how relatively lightweight the packaging box was compared to how strong the actual carrier is. I will have no worries about transporting any of my cats to the vet; there is no chance of their escaping. Putting this carrier together is a breeze . . . says even this notorious non-DIY’er. Two pieces plus several screws and nuts. All I needed was a Phillips screwdriver. It took about two minutes. (Well, it would have taken that time if the cats weren’t all over it, checking it out. But we won’t count that extra time.) I commend the manufacturer for the well-written, clear and readable instructions because they do help and they are becoming rare these days. The airholes in both the top and especially all around the sides are noteworthy because unlike rectangular carriers they will make airflow generous. If the cat is anxious the limited viewing out the sides may help with that noted above, very strong I don’t necessarily see this as weaker, certainly not a problem. And as too many of us cat people know, getting a cat into a carrier via the top is usually easier than going in the side. The only possible improvement I could suggest is to use metal for the handle. But because the plastic used is, as noted above, very strong I don’t see it as a problem. But as long as you were careful to stick to the 20-pound total limit you could put two small cats or four kittens in it. Yes, it is that roomy. Highly recommended! ... show more

    • 4.5 stars- it's a little finicky to put together
This is a spacious carrier that feels quite sturdy. It seems to have pretty good airflow, and can fit a pad or towel no problem. It has metal latching mechanisms on the door that are easy and intuitive to use. It was mostly easy to put together, except the nuts were rather finicky to fit and tighten onto the bolts. It doesn't come with a phillips head screwdriver, so be sure you have one. I used one with a short handle that seemed to work quite well. There's an indentation around the side the nuts seem to be intended to fit onto the bolts with, so make certain you have it on the proper side before tightening. I found it was easiest to put it on with the carrier upside down, and holding the bolt while installing the nut onto it. Once I got more bolts installed, I found it was easiest to install them with the carrier on its side. You may have a different and easier experience than me, as I am quite clumsy, and almost dropped things many times. Fortunately the company included an extra nut and bolt in case you do lose one. Overall I'd say this is a well made and sturdy carrier, and spacious for taking your kitty to the vet, etc. I'd recommend it. ... show more

    • Petmate Get-A-Round Kennel for Cats - Good for big cats
This review is for Petmate Get-A-Round Kennel for Cats, up to 20 Pounds, Blue, 19 Inches Wide. I have a 14 lb Norwegian Forest Cat that is so difficult to get into a standard carrier, so I wanted to give this a try. It was pretty easy to assemble. The nuts and screws are pretty small, so make sure you don't assemble it over somewhere you would lose parts if you drop them. Mine came with an extra screw and nut, but no screw driver so make sure you have your own. The unit feels sturdy. I am a bit nervous that the way you carry it pulls against the metal bars that hold the carrier closed, so I'll probably carry it from underneath with my arms instead of using the handle. The handle is also a lot thinner than other Petmate brand carriers I own so it's less comfortable in my fingers. The pictures make it look like there are vents on the bottom, but that's not the case. It's just a shiny design whereas everywhere else is a matte plastic. Another thing to consider is that since this is round, square or rectangular pee pads won't easily fit in. However, this is still an improvement for us and our cat. I'm happy. ... show more

    • Very Sturdy, Cat trusted immediately
My cat liked this immediately. She jumped right in before I could get it put together. Once I figured out that all you have to do to hold the nuts in place to screw into was to just put a finger on it to hold it, it went together in a matter of minutes. She was happy to climb in and be carried around. I wish there were also handles on the side (like a laundry basket, which this kind of reminds me of) because while it's sturdy enough to carry with the one handle, it's a little heavy and bulky (with my limited strength and12 pound cat) to carry with one hand, but I made it work. I have a soft sided backpack style carrier that ultimately still works best for us, but I am happy to have this one as a back up and an easy in/out with the cat for the times we get those Ohio tornado warnings and have to head to our safe place. I think she'd be safer in this one in the event of a tornado also. I'll probably grab this one for quick car trips when she wants to tag along for local errands. Very easy to use! ... show more

    • Good, not great
I love the concept, it seems like it would be more comfortable for a cat. My cat does not seem to hate it any more than the regular carrier for what it's worth. He doesn't like it, but he endures. I don't love the entry point, mainly because making it open in two ways compromises stability so it feels weak. I don't think my cat will be able to hulk out of it, but it doesn't feel as sturdy as I wish it did. Construction is otherwise good, I like the captured nuts to secure the two sides together. Price is perhaps a bit high but overall a good new take on the cat carrier. ... show more
