I have a partially paralyzed old Chihuahua who has gained some of his ability to get back up on the couch from having these steps. He's much happier now, having that ability back in his life. I love the safety of this one especially compared to a hard plastic one I bought for our corgi when he had same problems as 2 of our older cats are now having. He refused to use it after first time because he couldn't get enough traction to keep from sliding, that's the main reason I chose this soft one with soft cloth cover. My 2 cats didn't have any problems and took to it after their first try! I guided them down the stairs the first time and they are choosing to use it to get both in and out of recliner n sofa every time! So it must be helping them with suspected joint pain issues. I thought the would only use it to get down, but they both like it so much that they're going both up and down with know trouble at all. It looks like it's made from material similar to a memory foam but much more structure. It's firmness does not/ has not yet smashed or squished down from all the use of 2 finicky cats always following me around when I leave the room. I could tell it would hurt their joints when they would stand for a little while after jumping to floor before coming on our routines! It also has never topped over from 2 pets using it. Must be designed to counteract the weight distribution. The first one I bought was at least twice the price and I was afraid of it falling over when he was on it. If he didn't get in the center it would start to lean. He wouldn't use it so thankfully we didn't have that problem. I feel much better watching them use it to get up and down that I made a good choice this time! ... show more

I bought this for my 2 elderly little furbabies. One is a pug and one is a havenese. Both have knee issues in their elderly years. My pug also has a spinal stenosis and not able to jump any longer. These steps allow my babies to climb on and off the couch very easily. They are foam so larger dogs over 15-20lbs would totally compress them, but these are perfect for small pets. The 4 step version is the perfect height for my couch. The cover zips off for washing. They are very lightweight and easily moved around. I like that they are soft foam and not a hard step to trip over right next to your couch. I would highly recommend this for anyone with a small pet that needs help getting on and off the furnature.     • Essential for Small Dogs
My house is dog-focused, but as my elderly litter has dwindled from 5 to 1 sole old geezer who has never ever been "the only dog" nor left alone, I'm that crazy dog lady that carries him everywhere. We spend a lot of time at my framily's house now, which is *not* dog-focused (at least, not for littles, as his husky pupper is encroaching 60lbs and my Bear is barely 5lbs). He also really hates being picked up, and I have to do that enough as it's a 2-story and he is half the size of the steps. I wanted something lightweight to be able to carry it up/down the stairs with him, but sturdy enough that he can use it to access either the couch downstairs or the futon upstairs (this is too short to really work for the bed, though I do "help" him by letting him climb the stairs and then picking up his butt for him to climb onto the bed). Doesn't take much encouragement to get dogs to use this thing. He is much happier having a bit of floor-freedom. I can leave him bundled up on the couch and go into the kitchen to cook and he'll let himself down when he wants to come check on me (read: check if I dropped something). It helps him relax at my framily's house. Now if I can just get the freaking husky to stop using it - it's half her size but she's so....vertical. ... show more

I was very happy with these when I bought them. So much so, that I bought three more sets for a total of four. Almost $300. I thought my problems were solved and they looked so much nicer than some other styles. Unfortunately, three months in and the bottom step is now completely crushed in on all four sets. My smallest dog won’t even get on them anymore, as with the bottom step almost flat, she would have to jump directly to second step, which she cannot do. My heaviest dog is 9 pounds so if you are getting these for a dog heavier than that - either look elsewhere, reinforce the steps or plan on replacing every so often. They just don’t last and for the price, they should. The inside is made of foam, which is fine but they appear to have to used the cheapest foam on the market. The covet does come off for washing but it isn’t what I would call simple to get back on. All in all I wouldn’t plan on these lasting long - and once that bottom step crushes in, not only are they kind of useless, they look like crap. ... show more
