These are simple shades that are well constructed with simple chain operation. No spring mechanisms to go haywire! I bought the tan/brown color (I forget if it had a specific name) and the white to see which I'd like better. I needed to block the sun in my south facing kitchen bc it's bright and very hot, even with triple pane windows. The brown is more see through which is great bc we can still see the view and what's going on outside. Both colors cut the heat considerably, but the white almost completely blocks it. The brown lets in ~20% more heat than the white in direct sun. Still a huge improvement! The chain is a smidge on the noisy side, but perhaps all chain mechanisms are that way. These are the first I've had of this kind so I can't make a good comparison. I've had the shades a month with no issues and have ordered more for the 7 other kitchen windows. So far I'm very pleased and would recommend them! ... show more

The directions are terrible. I had to return them to get directions on how to install them. The fabric on the valance fell on the ground when I took the reflective plastic off the valance. I had to get double side md tape to make the valance fabric stick. I was worried at this point and strongly considered shipping them back to China where they are shipped from. Installing them was a pain in the butt. Once you figure out how to install them, it’s really easy, but figuring it out is the hard part. At this point, they look and work great. I got 5 of these shades for my windows with a view of the water. They keep my house much cooler in the evenings and I’m still able do see out through them. Now that I know the tricks to install these shades, I’ll definitely buy these again. ... show more

Works perfectly and is elegant and easy to install. I did the installation by myself in about 30 minutes after taking time to measure the holes. The mechanism is extremely simple but effective. The shades were exactly what I wanted with the color and also the slight see through but not completely blackout. Really enhanced the kitchen and so far has held up great. First, the instructions were awful. I ended up assembling the whole thing, held it up to the door and marked the brackets and drilled it on. The directions had no measurements or anything to go by. As for the shade, it was exactly what I was looking for. It is light filtering and still somewhat see through. The sun rises through our back door and was super bright in the mornings, and this shade blocks the sun perfectly without being too dark. At night you can not see out of the shade, but you can see in. I picked the grey color and it looks great. The chain function is smooth and the parts overall are great quality.     • High Quality Solar Shades at a Reasonable Price

We ordered 3 of these blinds (each 34" wide for 58" tall side-by-side windows) for our enclosed sunporch to deal with afternoon blinding glare. Measured for an interior install. When opening the package, we were immediately pleased with the consistency between all 3, the metal brackets, and what feels like very high-quality fabric + chains + bottom rod. When we went to install them, we discovered we have an air space between the window frame and the wall, so we did need to buy screws 1" longer than those provided. That aside, installation was easy; once the brackets as are up you attach the end with the chain and then slide up the other side of the blind for a snug fit. Check your brackets before installing as you can have the chain on either side based on where you put that bracket - So Nice! Chain is a great length, extending ~4" down from the top of the blind. Overall excellent craftmanship & highly recommend this brand. ... show more

My husband was terrified these would look like the cheap roller shades we would have as kids from the 99 cent store. I assured him these would be much better and I'm so happy with how they look. They are hefty and the quality is excellent! I wanted the chain shades so I can motorize them cheaply and the chain on these is superb. I love that you cannot see inside in the DAYTIME but at night, you may as well just leave these up because everyone can see inside your house anyway. I added privacy film on some of the windows that looked out into the neighbors side yard and that fixed the night time issue for now while we get some curtains for night time privacy. If these came in lower sheerness levels I would buy them in a heartbeat. ... show more
