Purchased this PERLECARE 3 Inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress Topper to try and soften up a mattress ser ta that was suppose to be a medium but was very firm. I'm in the top scale of the average sleeper, 235-245lbs. The new mattress felt like a 7.5 on a firmness scale and I wanted to get it to a 5.5 or 6. After alot of research, none of it specific or consistent, I first bought a very high rated topper from Amazon that was vari soft when it should have been a medium. Returned it an tried this PERLECARE, and so far am very happy with it. I would say however that the topper is on the firm side of medium, I would say 6-7 (to me 6.75) for my size. Firmness is generally relative to sleeper size and weight and I wish more reviews would list that information for comparison, medium for 165lb person may be a plush for a 230lb person. Even though the topper is just a bit on the firmer side for me, and I wish it was just a bit softer, it is still really comfortable. It states that the density is only around 1.8lbs and I was very concerned about that, but it seemed to more solid and supportive than the high density 3.8lb topper I returned. (I sunk right through that one]. The PERLECARE seems to be made very well, no loose fabric-bumps or sinks and the cover and material fit the topper well. It does look good if that matters. The straps, so far seem to be of good quality, the adjustment buckle slides easily and the placement of the straps seem to fit well with good spacing around the corners of the mattress. The topper does very good at staying in place and not moving while sleeping. I am one of those that move a lot during the night so that impressed me. Though you will have sheeting over it, the cover feels very nice, soft with no crazing stitching. Also after about the 4th day after opening, the topper filled out very well. Nice and even the entire width and length of the topper, no dips-bumps-or curls. Also bought a quean and the edges of the topper align almost perfectly with the quean mattress edges. All in all, very happy. Time will tell.

Tried 2 other toppers that I hoped would be good quality. No luck. They were cheap foam...so I bought this one as last attempt for the feel of true gel memory foam. This was spot on! Was more pricey but worth every penny. I work on concrete floors all day and my hips needed this gentle soft plush support to get a great comfortable sleep. This topper is not like the junk foam other companies sell. It is of premium quality "gel" memory foam:))

I bought this mattress topper for my college freshman’s dorm bed (Twin XL) and it completely transformed the thin, uncomfortable dorm mattress. The 3 inches of gel memory foam feel soft but still supportive, and my kid immediately noticed better sleep and less tossing and turning. It comes rolled up but expanded quickly with no strong odor, and the fit on the Twin XL mattress is perfect. The gel keeps it from feeling too warm, and the cover stays in place even with daily use. If you’re sending someone off to college, of the thousand things they think they need for their dorm, this is probably one of top 3 best upgrades you can give them. It's turned her a hard dorm bed into a genuinely comfortable place to sleep.

Memory foam comes in different densities. This one is not dense enough. I previously used 2 memory foam toppers stacked on top of each other. I had a 3 inch and a 2 inch for a total of 5 inches of memory foam. I was very comfortable for years but they got old and were torn and crumbling. They were not enclosed like this one is. I was worried I would not like having only 4 inches but I loved that this came with straps to hold it in place. I was always having to adjust the previous 2. At first I was amazed at how comfortable this new mattress was. I sank down into it way more than my old 5 inches of foam did. I laughed when I got up at the dent where I was laying. I had never seen anything like that before. I briefly thought I had discovered true luxury, especially since I no longer had to constantly fight my bed back into proper alignment. Not long after getting my new topper I started to have knee pain. I did not think to associate it with the matrress topper until I came back from vacation. My knees got all better while I was gone, and then got bad again my first night back. Apparently this topper is so soft my knees get pushed down in a way that damages them. I sleep on my side and turn frequently so both knees will be on the bottom about half the night. I also was unhappy to discover that lying on my stomach propped up on my elbows to read or use my phone causes serious back pain on this topper. It was awfully expensive to now have to buy a replacement. I am so grateful that my vacation was not too long after the problem started. My knees could have gotten much worse before I realized what the problem was. Much better to replace the topper now than to need 2 knee replacements later. I can at least put the replacement into the enclosure this topper came with. I will be looking for a more firm memory foam topper. Perhaps smaller people would be ok on this. I unfortunately weigh 200lbs.
