I have purchased this soil many times for my aglaonema and they all seem to love it. They thrive even in lower light conditions with a least a new leaf sprouting every other week. I have never had any issues with gnats or other bugs with this soil. The soil is light and fluffy and drains very well but it might take a little longer to dry in a plastic pot than it would in a terra cotta. Even though this soil works very well for my needs I feel like the bag is still a bit small. 8qts will go a long way if your pots are not very big, and if you have previous soil to help backfill the pot with. So far I have repotted several aglaonemas in (2) 8-inch pots, a few 4-inch pots, and (2) six-inch pots. I have about less than a 1/3 of the bag left. ... show more

This is really a great soil. A little spendy so I don't use for all my indoor plants. I have ordered it 3 or 4 times now and have never had a problem at this point with gnats as some other buyers have experienced. I always open it outside to make sure just in case. Definitely like this soil over others I’ve tried. Drains well and doesn’t (or hasn’t to date) given me trouble with bugs. Miracle Gro is what I used to use but caused a terrible infestation due to quality of product and terrible draining. Expensive but worth it for good quality. Will purchase in the future ... show more

I used this for a repotting and maybe I just don't have a good sense of volume. It's moist and light and I think will work well. Unfortunately, you don't get much volume so if you are filling a medium sized pot, you probably want to get 2 of these to do the job.
