    • Bailess version has serious design flaws
Product design is defective. Reel will spin while casting, causing the the line to snap. The point of a bailess real is to prevent a bail from closing while casting. Ultimately its suppose to be designed to prevent line snaps. I contacted PENN customer support informing them of the situation and asking if I could convert it to a bailed version. After receiving a list from PENN I purchasied an additional $75 in parts. When beginning to try to convert the reel, the schematic requires a different body and spool housing. So basically an entire new real. I purchased $375 for this real and parts recommended by PENN customer support. I went online and tried the chat sight recommendations of having the handle towards but end of the rod with spool guide away from rod. It doesn't solve the problem entirely. I still had line snaps. This purchase was entirely a waste of money. The reel has a design flaw and customer support was extremely unhelpful. I will never buy or recommend a PENN reel again. ... show more
