Used once on a several hour trip to a local reef. Works as advertised. Only issue, not a big deal I guess is for the size reel, the crank seems over done and kind of puts the reel off balance. The handle is BIG. Overall, not a bad deal. We'll see how it hold up in a marine environment. Here's an update: Used this reel all last summer. (2022) My wife is a fan paired with an Okuma med-short length rod which is not too heavy with the 15 size reel. One issue. Probably more my lack of care but the level winder gets stiff. Boat is at a mooring a lot of time in the summer so not a great opportunity to easily rinse after use. About half way through the summer the level winder screw got gunky and it took me a few minutes to figure why the line was not easily unspooling for bottom fishing. Once I figured it out, most every outing there after I put a drop or two of teflon lube on it when we went out. Seemed to solve the issue. I just got to my get ready for next spring season cleaning etc and went through the reel. The level wind 'tube' was sort of gunked up and needing some cleaning, and some new lube. that smoothed things out. Otherwise no corrosion on the reel other than a bit on the mount which makes sense as its against the holder on the rod, likely a different metal. I opened the clicker side cover to check on the clicker switch which was a bit sticky. Cleaned it up. But I have conflicted feelings about the quality. The screws are not machine threads but self tapping type in the plastic side plate for all but on in the inside. The gears that run the level winder are some sort of nylon. So the quality looks not superb, but then again this is not a top of the line reel and its fairly light in weight. As a point of reference, we put about 130 hours on the boat last summer, never heading more than 20-25 minutes to a fishing reef so the reel was used for several hours on 35-40 outings. Bottom line, if you take a bit of time for maintenance on the level winder, works as advertised and holding up well. At some point, I could see removing the level winder and not losing much if it got to be too much of an issue or breaks. ... show more
