Description

Battle II spinning reels have Penn's HT-100 Versa-Drag washers keyed into the spool which allows both sides of each drag washer to be used. This gives the Battle II higher max drags, more range, and smoother start ups than the competition. All HT-100 washers are greased with Penn's proprietary PENN grease for longevity.

Best lightweight reel I’ve ever owned. Caught a Permit and a small Barracuda and reeled them right in what a great fight. Tension setting worked perfectly. I recommend this reel for saltwater shore fishing, cannot wait to try it with walleye, bass and pike!!!

I like everything about this reel, good build quality & super smooth. The drag is rated at 9lbs. but I'd bet it will out perform the ratings, I fish Lake Guntersville a lot & there is a some BIG Bass in this lake si I'm sure it'll get the chance to prove itself sooner than later :) I loaded it with 20lb. Berkley 9X braid & it will easily cast a 3/8oz. lure 160' consistently & will also throw finese worms farther than you'll want them to go. Great reel I have converted completely to Penn battles I have several from the 8000 to the 2000 They hold up really well around saltwater with minimal care. I don’t care for the reversing switch on the 2500 to 1000 it’s completely unnecessary and a potential knuckle buster

I've bought 2 of these Battle III 2000's. They've been fantastic reels that get used multiple times a week on a kayak where they get sprayed with saltwater. I've landed multiple 30"+ fish on these and they've been durable and smooth, I have no complaints.

I've got more of these Penn Battle (II and III) reels than my wife has shoes (don't tell her). They are -excellent- reels and a good value for the money. The drag is very smooth and the bail strong and crisp. My -only- complaint is that the Battle III reels (at least the 1000 and 2000 models) do not have a "free spool" (back reel) switch, something I've now realized that I used quite a bit. ... show more

Not the lightest of reels I have an 8000/6000 but Penn makes some extremely sturdy reels that can compete with the big boys I.E. (VanStaal) at a fraction of the price. I have had several Penn reels for over 10+yrs now with lots of surf fishing hours on them. Regular (yearly) maintenance is the key to keeping anything working at it's best.
