Description

Ram truck owners often notice throttle lag when accelerating, merging, or towing. The Pedal Commander Throttle Controller is designed to reduce this delay, giving your Dodge Ram a more responsive driving experience. Pedal Commander does not reprogram your ECU like a traditional tuner, programmer, or performance chip upgrade. Instead, it adjusts the signal between the accelerator pedal and throttle body, helping to reduce the “dead pedal” feel and improve throttle sensitivity. This makes it a practical upgrade whether your truck is stock or already equipped with Dodge Ram accessories such as a shift knob, performance filter, or other truck accessories. You can fine-tune throttle response for your needs with 36 adjustable settings across four driving modes (Eco, City, Sport, and Sport+). Eco mode helps with smoother low-speed driving, City mode balances comfort and control for daily use, Sport mode provides quicker feedback for towing or hauling, and Sport+ offers the most responsive pedal feel. Installation is quick with a true plug-and-play design; no cutting, splicing, or special tools are required. When activated, an anti-theft mode can also disable pedal input, adding extra security for your vehicle. Pedal Commander does not increase horsepower but helps access available power more directly. For Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 owners from 2007 to 2018, it’s a simple way to reduce throttle lag, enhance throttle response, and complement other Ram 1500 upgrades or Dodge Ram 1500 accessories. • Awesome... !!!
Size: Ram (2007-2018)
I couldn't stop grinning from ear to ear the first time I stabbed the throttle. (I put it on Sport + mode right off the bat) I installed this on a 2014 Ram 1500 and the installation took all of 5 minutes..!! This will not void warranty because this does not mess with the computer of anything like that. If you are concerned at all about the warranty on your vehicle, simply spend 5 minutes and remove the Pedal Commander, then put it back on when you want to. I guess if you were to ask me.. What does this thing do? I would say something like.... It increases throttle response and sensitivity. Now, some might say.. so what? I cut my teeth on carbureted cars, and love the instant throttle response of the engine to the carburetor's accelerator pump's shot of raw gasoline. Modern fuel injected vehicles, sure better fuel mileage, atomization, etc... but the throttle response feels sluggish and slow compared to a carbureted vehicle. Now, if you are not old enough to ever have driven a V8 with a carburetor on it, none of this will make much sense to you. If the only thing you have ever driven is FI cars, well, the lazy pedal will seem normal to you. The Pedal Commander will make the engine respond a lot quicker. When I got my 2014 Ram 1500, with Hemi, I knew it had plenty of power, 395 HP. It moves the big sled briskly, I really like the truck, but the pedal was painfully sluggish. It almost seemed like, I could push the pedal half way down before it seemed like the engine would respond. I thought, I would like to have that changed, but couldn't really do it without getting into a programmer, hence voiding the warranty. I came across a forum where some guys were attacking the pedal commander. I think, it was maybe the company owner responded to the negative comments with professional and logical counters. I looked everything, and ordered the Pedal Commander like 10 minutes later. I could tell it was exactly what I wanted. This DOES NOT increase horsepower. That is not what it is supposed to do. It does exactly what it is supposed to do, increase throttle response. It is a perfect addition to my Ram 1500 for it's extremely lazy/sluggish accelerator pedal. I went straight to "Sport +" mode, the most aggressive mode. I couldn't stop laughing, I could barely take off without whipping my head back. Now, that setting was a little too aggressive for me personally, so I went "down" to "Sport" mode and I'm experimenting with that currently to see what I like. Since there are numerous settings, you can find a perfect setting for your personal taste. For Ram 1500 Hemi owners: This is perfect !! The pedal is sluggish as hell, then add in the "ECO" mode. That is when the engine runs on 4 cylinders instead of all 8 for economy. There is also a lag when the engine switches from 4cyl to 8cyl. Soooo.... combine the laggy accelerator pedal with the laggy switch from 4cyl to 8cyl, it "feels" really crappy during all that. The Pedal Commander helps do away with most of that. Not perfect, but REALLY nice compared to stock. 17JAN17 Update: I found the "Sport" mode works best for me. Actually "Sport" mode then 2 clicks down. I sort of figured my miles per gallon would decrease, because since I drive my truck hard. This would be no fault of the Pedal Commander. Actually, it seems like I'm getting 1 or 2 extras mpg's now. The only thing I can figure is that, I was really annoyed with how sluggish the stock pedal was, so I was always heavy on it. Using, Pedal Commander, I can get the truck to respond the way I want with a lighter foot... I don't know.. I can see I'm getting a little better mpg's. Nothing drastic, but a little better. ... show more

  • Pedal Commander works!
Size: Ram (2007-2018)
We have a 2016 Ram 2500 Diesel 6 speed auto. Great truck but has a terrible lag at initial throttle up from a stop and same thing while driving say 30 steady speed and you need to accelerate quickly for whatever reason. I am not a lead foot or impatient driver by any means but this situation is bothersome. I looked at chips and programmers with a bunch of conflicting information and sketchy reviews and to be honest, don't feel the truck needs more power anyway, just better power management. Enter Pedal Commander. We purchased it and installed it recently. It is cheaper than many alternatives and is crazy easy to install. Simple and straight forward plug and play. I waited 30 minutes after running the truck and put my keyless keyfob about 80 feet away to prevent any chance of having the truck live in any way when unplugging the throttle sensor for hookup. Down loaded the App into my phone, started the truck, entered the serial number in the app and it was done. Honestly that simple. I started with City no boost and noticed it felt better. Pushed the increase button and tried again and yes, noticed it was better yet. I cycled through all of the options one at a time and can feel a difference with each mode and each power option. I like the sport mode somewhere between 0 and maximum, have not decided yet which one is best but this is the real deal. No need for a programmer if all you want is a better feeling and more responsive Diesel Ram with the 6.7 Cummins like I did. Still some lag when driving steady at 30 or so and wanting instant acceleration as the transmission will downshift when you push the accelerator pedal but it is SO much better. Also, I was very concerned that with this mod that it would be difficult to hold a steady speed. That is mildly true but not difficult at all. I really like the feel of the truck over stock and find it easier to drive but also easier to speed. I have noticed about 1.5 MPG lower average so far but with all the playing I have done, deserve it. I will update after the play factor wears off. Have not seen any smoke yet which is important for me as I hate the black smoke crap. Also, I miss understood the sales pitch on the Pedal Commander. It has several performance options in EACH performance range, not just a play on words as I sort of assumed they were saying. So many folks over state what they are selling can do but not this one. Sorry for the long read. ... show more

  • More than expected :) 2014 RAM 1500 5.7L
Size: Ram (2007-2018)
I don't normally write reviews on anything I buy, but I felt this product was amazing enough to do so. Installed it on my 2014 RAM 1500 Laramie with the 5.7L Hemi. Took me less than 10 minutes to install. No instructions, but if you know your way around a vehicle, you'll figure it out. Just plugs in series with the throttle sensor cable above the gas pedal. Plug it in, find a spot to mount the bracket holder, zip tie any excess cable out of the way, and done. I have a S&B cold air intake system and Air Raid throttle body spacer. I could feel the difference from the intake HP on the top end, and the added torque off the line from the spacer, but factory throttle response was still less than impressive. Enter Pedal Commander. THE DIFFERENCE WAS BEYOND NIGHT AND DAY! Economy mode is about the same as the factory reponse, maybe a little less. City mode is comparable to factory response, but probably a little better. Sport mode levels is where i drive a lot. Plenty of get up and go, with little lag time in the throttle. Now when in Sport+ Level 4, you can't even drive it around a corner casually because the slightest touch of the pedal wants to launch the truck at full throttle. This mode is strictly for drag racing in a straight line. You get full throttle in about 1/8 throttle movement. Truck launches like a rocket off the line with no throttle delay. Raced a 2014 Tundra Platinum edition 5.7L truck from a stop light. Gave them about a truck length jump off the line at a stop light just to be a nice guy, then hammered the throttle, caught the Tundra in no time flat and blew it's doors off as I sped by. The RAM 8 speed tranny and Pedal Commander in Sport+ Level 4 kept me in the full power RPM range from start to finish. So when those 420 horses started to buck, they had no problem leaving that Tundra in the dust. A lot of products are gimmicks and there is minimal noticeable difference in performance. This NOT one of those products. It absolutely changes the way your truck will drive and perform. It does not give your truck more horsepower, but it makes it drive to the absolute best of its ability for the situation you are in. Excellent product A+++ ... show more

  • Perfect. Perfect.
Size: Ram (2007-2018)
Vehicle: 2016 Ram 1500 2WD 5.7 Hemi I actually waited a few hours after installing and testing this to write a review so I wouldn't just spew expletives about how incredible this little thing is. I researched it well before buying. Owners who had it. Loved it. Those who didn't were skeptical. I bought it. Was very skeptical. Especially for $300. When I got the box I was pleasantly surprised. It's the little things, but the box was nice, the decals that came with it are nice, even the alcohol wipes are Pedal Commander branded. It might sound stupid, but little quality details say something about a product to me. Install took 5 minutes. And most of that was contorting myself into the floor of my truck to get at the pedal plug. I did as the instructions state, keep proximity key 35ft away from vehicle for 5 minutes. I also shut off the dome light and left the door open for that time as well for all electronics to go to sleep. Hooked up, put it in the top range Sport + 4 because, of course you would. Backed out of the driveway, put it in drive, cautiously pressed the throttle expecting a little more 'zip'... rear tires spun. Hard. I spent the next half hour driving around testing the different settings, all the while yelling "WHAT?!? WHAT?!?" I was just blown away by it. The truck can be a straight up ANIMAL, or a street cruiser by tapping a few buttons now. No check engine light. No issues what so ever. I HATE how modern Ram 1500's drive stock with the MDS / Eco mode. It's garbage and undrivable in my opinion. I'd been engaging the manual option to eliminate the fall on your face fueling the truck comes with. This eliminates that. I was almost about to go the Diablo route of buying an $1100 new ECU and tuner to get the truck to operate the way I knew it wanted too. So in that regard the $300 bucks this cost is a steal. I rarely go all crazy with reviews for things, I'm usually "Works as advertised." "Solid product." But this one made me sit down and write it out. My only concern was the programmer would sort to a default setting when I turned the truck off. But it doesn't, it remembers where you left it. I could not be happier. Period. ... show more

  • Great for EcoDiesel
Size: 1500 New Body Style 2019+
Easy to install on my '22 EcoDiesel and really woke the engine up closer to how the Ram should've been shipped stock. I run in Sport 1 and it'll absolutely get up and go when you grab some pedal, but is sedate enough when you're driving normally. While I did feel some increased responsiveness in City mode, I felt that S1 gave me the greatest bang for the buck, didn't noticeably change my fuel economy at all (24.8 mpg before, 24.8 mpg after) and it has yet to throw codes or send me into limp mode. Dinged it a star because it was a bit expensive for what it gave me, but it's just the ticket if you're looking to wake your sleepy engine. ... show more

  • 2017 RAM 3500 DRW 4.10 AISIN 2017 RAM 3500 DRW 4.10 AISIN
Size: Ram (2007-2018)
As the heading shows, I drive a 17 RAM 3500 Dually with 4.10 and Aisin transmission so mine is considered the HO. There are a couple of things I didn't see when researching. 1. Nobody seems to have long-term use reviews. Everyone is talking about just installing, had it a day, love the power, etc... 2. Does it make the truck jerk from a stop (slam the diff) or does it cause any other drivability issues. I will be a little hypocritical with my review, as I have only had mine about a week or so. I do intend on keeping it installed at least until the January 31st return window (if it doesn't cause any problems with the truck I will keep it installed). I have towed empty, pulling my 19k lbs. fifth wheel, running Diesel additive, and without additive. In all these scenario's I have kept it tuned to either City +4 or Sport with no +/-. Even with the Aisin being a slightly stiffer transmission, I have been very impressed on how the truck feels now. I am not driving it like a rental car so I have not seen any decrease in fuel efficiency. I have not even tried the Sport Plus settings. It accelerates extremely smoothly and the power seems to come on gradually but quickly (if that makes sense). Anyone who drives the Aisin knows the feel of the 1st to 2nd injector cutout, and with the PC the hesitation or cut out seems to be much smoother or less apparent. I haven't had any hard upshift or downshifts. The turbo spools the same as far as psi goes. I know what psi I was running before and it seems to be the same after installing the PC. However, the power is much more instantaneous and causes the transmission to down shift accordingly. Even when towing the trailer, I didn't feel like the amount of power it gave was causing stress or damage to the motor or drive component (that was one of my concerns). I can control my speed while towing and driving empty much better, which I believe is giving me the same if not better MPG. Before the PC, when I added Hot shots Secrets EDT, I could notice a difference in idle but also acceleration. With the PC installed, the truck has an equivalent amount of power with or without additive. I will likely still use it for its cleaning capabilities but will only use the maintenance dose now instead of the performance dose. **Update** 2 months now and 1 snow storm. I haven't had and CEL's and loved that I could turn down my throttle sensitivity when we had 24" of fresh snow. Being able to tame all that torque was key to keeping me on the road when it was snowing and icy. I am a bit surprised it didn't trigger any CEL when my truck goes into "battery saver mode" on really cold morning -4 to 13 degrees F. When the grid heater cycles, it drops to 11 Volts, but no Check Engine Lights. Very happy with that. I will say, I would never use the "eco" mode if I weren't in the snow! It makes the truck feel like a slug and very delayed turbo spool, but in the snow....perfect! *ONE MORE REVISION* So I have been using this a while and I will say there has still been no complications. I used this in conjunction with my Raceme ultra for a while and am not sure if I like it with the new software. It seems to mess with the shift points so the Aisin runs through the gears too quickly (not harsh or soft, just too fast). It shifted almost like normal when I put it on Tow/Haul mode but don't necessarily prefer the downshifting all the time in that truck setting. I turned it off with the Raceme and miss the throttle response but feel the truck shifts more appropriately with the new Raceme. Transmission shift points depend on drive pressure as well as throttle position and when the throttle band is changed and made more sensitive, it effected the shift points to a point I didn't think was safe for head pressure and engine boost. ... show more

  • A little expensive but worth the investment
Size: Ram (2007-2018)
First, I have a 2018 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel Laramie with the EPA Updated ECU tuning. Before installing the Pedal Commander, there was a horrible delay in throttle response, almost to the point of being dangerous. I read other reviews before purchasing, and still, yet I am a man and had to go straight for Sport +: +4, and after nearly hitting my neighbor's car backing out of the driveway, I had a nice big grin glued to my face. For me, Sport+ and 0 gain works best. Installation: It took all of about 2 minutes to install I have a background in automotive Tech but I can assure you if you can plug up a cell phone charger in your car you can do this as well. Simply unplug the connector on the accelerator pedal and take that same connector and plug it into the pedal commander harness, ( it is a male-female set of connectors so you can not mess it up). Then plug the other connector into the accelerator and you are done. ****NOTE KEEP YOUR KEY FOB AT LEAST 35FT AWAY FROM YOUR VEHICLE FOR AT LEAST 5 MINUTES BEFORE INSTALLATION TO PREVENT SETTING A FAULT CODE IN THE ECU WHEN YOU DISCONNECT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL.******* NOTICE: The pedal Commander will not VOID your factory or extended warranty. With that being said if you do need to take your vehicle to the dealer for any issues disconnect the Pedal Commander following the reverse instructions for installation. The reason for this is that if one of the Techs at the Dealer finds the Pedal Commander installed they can use that as a reason not to honor the warranty. This device will not change your existing ECU Tune or add Horsepower! It simply manipulates the voltage signal that is sent to the ECU from the accelerator pedal by measuring what the pedal is outputting and increasing that signal voltage in-line before it gets to the ECU. Overall I would recommend this for diesel owners if you do not plan to have your ECU Tuned Aftermarket because if you have it Tuned the ECU will already do what this device does and it would be pointless to have it in conjunction with a Tune. ... show more
