I was completely satisfied with my hard sided cat carrier, until a 4 am fire alarms had my 65-year-old self struggling down 8 flights of stairs, clutching the very hard plastic handle, while inside, my cat launched himself in every direction because the alarm was making him insane. By the time I reached the ground level, my hand and arm was killing me. (Evacuating the building was an 'abundance of caution, btw.) But, an eye-opener. My need for a different carrier was plain. I considered three various carriers, and brought home two. This is my choice. What I Like: 1. The carrier comes fully assembled, just add the strap. That's a first for me, no matter the style. This carrier does have metal bars you have to push into place at either end, but they pretty much snap into the spot, and then you simply push the little catches over the rods, and done. 2. It's roomy enough for my big cat. 3. There's a soft pad for the interior. 4. Plenty of mesh screen all the way around. Giving the cat a good view and adequate ventilation. 5. There's a hook for a leash. After our recent ordeal, I recommend leaving a leash inside the carrier, ready to go. To be honest I might also leave important papers in a plastic bag tucked under the mat. A 1-bag bug-out case, if you will. 6. It's so lightweight! And with a shoulder strap! What I Dislike: 1. The mesh sees flimsy to me, My cat attacked it right away--he seems to harbor a hatred for this particular material, for some reason. He hasn't torn through it...yet. But he did destroy a different soft-side carrier. Time will tell, I just hope it doesn't tell in the middle of a red-hot emergency. 2. Dreary color options. Cats are the coolest creatures on the planet, they want to look cool on the go. He looks like he's heading for his 2-week rotation in the National Guard in this thing. (He should be so useful, lol)

It’s a little tough to get the frames pushed all the way in initially because everything is a bit stiff, but it breaks in a little and becomes easier after setting it up once or twice. But, it flattens down to about 3-4” and is easy to store. The zippers are very smooth and can easily be used one handed without having to hold the other end down. The built in leash is a nice additional security feature and is probably useful as long as your cat doesn't have a breakaway collar that will pop off when they jump out. The build quality is ok- once fully set up, it’s sturdy and holds its shape well. However, there are no rubber feet or any kind of protection on the bottom, just fabric, and there are already signs of the fabric being stressed where the built in floor support board (that appears to be sewn into the bottom of the carrier and not removable) is stretching the fabric on the corners of the board and I worry it will rip/fray. But, my cat likes it and climbs right into it.

I was looking for a pet carrier that would be a better fit for my rabbit, and this was perfect! The bun is about 10 pounds and is a Flemish Giant mix, and fits comfortably inside. I tried this with my largest cat, who does fit and weighs about 13 pounds, but would not be able to sit up in it or move around much. I also put it next to my two pups (both medium size) for comparison. One is a chihuahua pug mix, closer to pug in size at 35 pounds, and based off of her comparison I don’t think this would work for any dog larger than a small or toy breed. The other is 25 pounds, but taller and thinner, and definitely would not fit. That’s exactly in line with what the carrier says, but I thought I’d include the comparison photos so you can get a better sense of the size. It is smaller than a typical hard carrier, but the framing makes it quite sturdy. I found it easy to put together and take apart. It is not waterproof, but it does include a removeable bottom pad with some firm softness to it. I pulled it out to see what it was, and it’s a styrofoam material. I would have liked to see a true washable insert in here, preferably with some absorbing fabric liners included. The zippers are easy to zip, the carrier feels very sturdy, and the fabric feels high quality. The fact that it collapses and saves space is a huge plus to me. The list price at time of review is $36, with a coupon that brings it down to $22. At the high end, I would say this is a fair value, on par with other similar products, and a good value at the low end. Recommended for small cats or rabbits.

This is an overall great pet carrier with many advantages. Most of our cats are around the 9 lb. size, with a few larger, plus three that are very small adults barely bigger than kittens. This carrier is certainly a good fit for most of our cats, though maybe a little too snug and small for the larger kitties. The carrier is super lightweight, and is better than good when it comes to ventilation - the mesh is plentiful, giving your cat plenty of room to breathe and to see out. It's a bit on the thin side, but not so much to cause serious concern about escape. The interior pad is soft, the zippers work perfectly and are excellent, and the frame makes it really sturdy and strong - it won't fold in and you and your cat can feel very safe and secure. And we love, love, LOVE the shoulder strap! That's so handy, and makes carrying your cat around all the more comfortable. This is definitely one of the more comfortable carriers we've used of this type. Really tempted to order one more!
