These do the job to protect you from the sun, but they are by no means cooler than not wearing anything at all. They get warm when you stop riding, such as at a stop light, especially over 90 degrees, which is only going to be more common due to global climate change. The sizing is a bit strange given these are for cycling. My hands can barely fit through them, but then they are loose on my biceps. I am lean (5'10", 155 pounds), but not super skinny, so they seem to be sized for men with tiny hands but huge biceps, which is a strange combination. They could be a little wider in the wrist, and more narrow at the tops to hold on without sliding down. They look just fine, and were a bit pricey but perhaps worth it to avoid skin cancer. ... show more

Really good quality sleeves. I can barely feel them on my arms. Just the right amount of compression. The length is true to size. Definitely keeps the sun off. My first two rides were both 3+ hour rides (48 miles and 76 miles) in 96F heat in bright sunshine with 80-85% humidity. These sleeves definitely did what they were supposed to - protect my arms.     • These are necessary if you are on a med that is a photosensitiser.

I am on a medication that is a photosensitizer. My arms have to be covered, even on the hottest, sunniest day at 41-42 degrees latitude. Even a 50 Spf cream sunblock, alone, does not help my arms. I become ill and the dermatologist won't tell me to stop a med that another M.D. has prescribed. I can feel the cool the moment I put them on, and they are 50 SPF and I can tell that helped somewhat. However, if a purchaser is photosensitive, slather a 50 SPF sunblock on your arms anyway. I realized I am going to have to do that because I can feel a slight burn on my arms after a 40 minute bike ride. That doesn't mean the 50 SPF in the fabric is a failure. The 50 SPf Sunblocks do not have a 100% effect when the phototoxicity is internal and med-induced. But I am fine and not ill. During my entire bicycle rides, I can feel the cool, which I love. The band at the top of the sleeve is comfortable and stays in place. The fabric feels wonderful against my skin. I measured the length of my arms, ordered the corresponding size, and I can pull them up to a point where no skin is exposed to the sun between my cycling top and the upper band and my wrists are not exposed. If a purchaser feels that is too long a length, order one size down. I am so grateful for these sleeves. ... show more

Problem was with Pearl Izumi. I ordered 2 pair of the sun sleeves, received only one pair and never heard from them regarding the missing pair. I emailed them 3 times and called 3 times. Thankfully, I got a person to speak to and was able to receive credit back on my card. I've bought most of my cycling attire from Izumi stores, never on line. Don't think I care to ever order on line again. Too much trouble! ... show more
