  • A great trainer for Zwift.
Can't rate the Kickr without rating Zwift, since that's what it's for. Setup of the machine was a breeze. Getting the system pieces to play nice together made me appreciate AI. It walked me through the setup with the companion app and Apple TV, which would be nigh unto impossible with the instructions alone. So I pedal in front of a 75" screen now. The cog and click system works perfectly; shifts are instant, no lag. Zwift itself is a great training app, but not very realistic. Very low end video game graphics. They should hook up with Pixar or a gaming company and make it more interesting. Admittedly, I haven't seen their financials, but with 300K subscribers at $200 per year, seems like Zwift could afford to do something better. That said, there are hundreds of workouts and courses with varying distances and terrain. It has all the monitoring I want, e.g., power, heart rate, cadence, to have consistent workouts. Thousands of riders from all over the world are on this thing. Your avatar never feels alone! ... show more

  • Wahoo 5 Stars! Zwift Click not so much…
This trainer is high-quality as expected. I needed it to train and spoke to coaches and some bike enthusiasts I know. It unboxed, assembled, and paired/setup easily. My negative observations pertain solely to the Zwift Click. The Zwift Click option is touted as nearly universally compatible. I can’t speak to that as I have a fairly common Shimano cassette. I can speak to the Zwift experience, however. You cannot pair via iOS (as far as I can tell) and setup the cog without providing your credit card info and subscribing to Zwift. (Wahoo has subscription options but you can use their product without them). I enrolled with Zwift and had trouble with the system, never successfully getting it to “shift” even after subscribing, pairing, firmware update, and playing with their app far longer than desired (in that order). TLDR: if you want to shift (virtually) easily you will likely need to pony up the $20 USD to Zwift. Note that even doing that I could not get it to operate. At all. IMHO this SAAS coupled with cheesy hardware is a cash grab. I am tearing it off and putting on a compatible cassette. If you already use Zwift this cog might work for you (though I won’t vouch for it). Just spare yourself and get the Wahoo with the included standard cassette (same price). Order a cassette and spacer if the standard one isn’t compatible, it’ll pay for itself over the clunky Zwift cash grab “solution”. Don’t pay to shift if you already use the Wahoo app or Training Peaks (which has virtual shifting built in…). Zwift definitely provided a poor UX in my case, but as always YMMV. ... show more

  • Great trainer with loads of features
Really nice trainer. I have it linked with Zwift and log some virtual miles when the weather is bad and its nice to just throw the gravel bike on it when I cant go ride. Setup is fool proof and connecting my bike to it was a bit of a struggle because of a kick stand I had to remove. Wife didn't hear the trainer but said she heard be breathing so it was quieter than I expected. For the price I would have liked it to have come with zwift for a year or something, but I am happy with the purchase. ... show more

  • Junk all around! no User Experience went into this
I was EXTREMELY displeased by this!!! The instructions were horrible and it didn’t come with a tire set for the front tire to offer better stability for the bike. It comes with two hand button controls that attach to the handle bars. There were no instructions on those. Connectivity to the Core was junk. I kept losing a connection. It was very picky on what kind of devices it would accept a connect to and stream the workout on to. As for the workout and the controls, the quality was VERY low grade. If I gave it a rating, I would rate it a “D-.” There was not much UX design placed into this product. The value for what I paid and for the experience I got was SUB-PAR!! ... show more
