  • Well constructed and many small, but important, features make this worth the cost!
Lens Color: Sony E Mount
Wow! They really thought of everything. There are multiple safety measures to make sure your gear stays secure, while still maintaining easy access to attaching your lenses and rotating them so they hang in the right position. Very well constructed with metal on all the important bits and high quality rubber and plastic so it's nice to the touch with good grip. Multiple ways to fasten the main bracket to backpacks, belt loops etc make this a very versatile accessory. I'll be using this for all of my shoots! ... show more

  • Easy & Convenient
Lens Color: Nikon F Mount
I'm recently retired and now spend several days a week hiking in the woods doing nature photography with my DSLR. My kit lens is a Tamron 18-200mm. I also use a Sigma 70-300mm when the opportunity arises. I had been struggling with ways to easily carry my camera and lenses with as minimalist approach as possible. Then I heard of the Peak Design Capture Lens kit. The Capture Lens attaches to a clip that attaches to a strap. I attach it to the strap of a small back pack. I've also paired it with the Peak Design Leash and it works great. The over-the-shoulder design keeps my extra lens hanging at my side, out of the way, but quickly available. Changing lenses is quick and easy. Best purchase decision I've made in a while. ... show more

  • Good product, great idea, with a few design flaws
Lens Color: Sony E Mount
If you're looking at this, you probably already know the pros of this product, but lets get into it. Pros: Holds extra lenses. Fast switching between them without the awkward digging through the bag, and finding a place to set it, and potentially missing an important shot. Reasons why I took off a star tho (realistically, a star and a half): When a lens is attached (Sony E series is what I bought), there is a slight bit of play, small, but noticable. Not a deal breaker, but I would like to see it fit as snug as it does on my camera body. As it stands, I hope this flaw doesn't, over time, wear out on the lens where the locking nub seats in. Second, and most important: The button. Day one, my lens dropped out suddenly. The problem being two things. First, the button is WAY too easy to press, even if you accidentally touch it, which you probably will when swapping lenses, as I did. I know it's supposed to be a quick release, and it definitely is, but even a small 'click' with some resistance would solve this problem. Second, if the button is pressed, and the lens is facing down, it spins and falls suddenly with no resistance. This may be able to be resolved with the first issue of 'play' I mentioned, but also, adding some slight resistance would help. I would like to note, so far for me, if you are aware of this issue, and avoid grabbing the button when you adjust your lens mount, so far for me, it is still fairly secure, and survived meduim to hard mountain treks with scrambles and rock climbing with no issues. Although, before YOU do that, keep in mind: Just make sure that when you apply the lens, you hear the distinct "click" as it locks in, because it's easy to THINK it is secured, without it being such. And I think these two points is where some of the reviewers had issues with it dropping. A couple other notes, the cheap aluminum mars easily, and the metal on metal when installing a lens makes me a bit uneasy, especially with the play that i mentioned earlier. Luckily, the metal on PD is softer, so it doesn't mar the lens (yet). As far as the build, all in all, the plastic feels extremely cheap. But only FEELS cheap. Maybe because it lacks any texture. That said, it's not so cheap as to make me think it would break or shatter if a chucked it as hard as I could at a rock or off a cliff. Final analysis: Although I'll keep using it, because it's the best product of it's kind, I would like to see the improvements listed above, as well, and would gladly purchase an upgraded product, even at a premium price. And don't let the negative reviews sway you against what is a HUGE time saver, if that's what you're going for. Just know, it does have it's quirks, and you will have to be aware when you use it that 1: It 'clicks' into place, and 2: you don't grab the button when adjusting the position. ... show more

  • Nikon F series, 400 -800mm & 300- 700mm
Lens Color: Nikon F Mount
The security of this mount allows me to carry both of my larger lens in comfort. Adding the pro pad makes it more conforms on your belt. The older design of the clip is bulkier than the V3 but still useful.

  • A way to change lens fastest
Lens Color: Sony E Mount
This one is a very practical stuff. I like this one. It is set of lens retainer and capture v2. So if you want capture v3, you have to buy new one. But most important point is they send me used one. I will not try refund. But i count 3 stars.

  • Lenses do NOT lock into holder
Lens Color: Nikon F Mount
While this is a handy device for true run and gun, both buttons to release the lenses from their locked position have started to stick in the pressed in position. This means the lenses are free to rotate and fall off. I’ve taken the mechanisms apart to try and find the bind (as they stick even without a lens mounted), and it appears that it’s just a poor design with nothing but plastic. I guess this is just a disposable accessory. ... show more

  • clearly the industry leader for such a device
Lens Color: Nikon F Mount
Most of the time, the Capture Lens is retaining a 70-200 F2.8 VR (about 3.25 pounds), with the secondary lens being a 24-70 F2.8 (about 2 pounds). The device holds the lenses securely and has made in-the-field lens exchanges much easier. The learning curve took about half a dozen exchanges to become fluid. Incidentally, I’ve twice moved it lower on the backpack strap and find both that it’s easier to operate the Capture Lens the lower it sets, and the lenses don’t bounce against me as much when I walk when they’re lower. The Capture Clip is mostly aluminium with some plastic elements while the Capture Lens is mostly plastic with some aluminium elements. The lens interface of the Capture Lens is far from the tolerances used on the camera bodies, but it is sufficient for the need and is well marked to promote alignment and has a positive locking mechanism (which appears identical in size and shape to its counterpart on the camera body). The maximum strap width the Capture Clip can span is about 2.5 inches. This product is based on the Peak Design Capture Camera Clip V2. If you buy the Capture Clip V2 (now discontinued) and the Capture Lens items separately, they are about $50 each. The official Peak Design website shows in a pictorial diagram that the Capture Lens will interface with the V3 version of the Capture Camera Clip. Overall a good product. I’m considering getting a V3 to suspend the camera body. ... show more
