  • What we needed
Color: Grey
I didn't want to build a coup. We only have 2 chickens and this coup was pretty easy to put together, and not too expensive. Just know its not going to keep out predators. I did some adjustments to mine. Waterproofing and fortifying. Still wouldn't put my chickens in it outside overnight with the raccoons and bears we have around here. We keep them in it in our front room at night. Serves our purpose. If you want to keep chickens in it outside I recommend putting chicken wire under the bottom and majorly fortifying it!!! ... show more

  • Good base but needs adjustments
Color: Red
The roosting bar in this coop must be replaced, especially if in a cold-climate area. Replace with a 2x4 so that the chickens can cover their feet with their bodies. The narrow, sharp-edge roosting bar that comes with this coop will be uncomfortable for chickens are requires that their toes reach around the small bar and be exposed to the cold. You need to have at least 8 inches of roosting bar for each bird so you might need to run two bars across -- I did mine in a T shape. You'll need to add additional ventilation holes on the side across from the window to provide cross flow and allow moisture to escape. These should be high in the peak to avoid drafts blowing right on to the chickens. Cover the new holes with chicken wire to keep predators out. You'll need to replace the hardware with mechanisms that can be locked to avoid predators -- like raccoons -- from opening it up. If you are going to use this coop in cold-climates, you are going to need to add insulation panels to the outside. Chickens will eat styrofoam -- it can kill them so make sure that any exposed styrofoam insulation is covered with plywood or burlap or duct tape or something like that. Four standard-sized chickens is the absolute max for this coop, and only if you allow them access to a run too. • Not good in outside elements
Color: Grey
I’ve had this coop for 3 months. It does not hold up to outdoor elements well. The wood is warping and becoming brittle. It’s not going to last through winter so I will have to buy another one.

  • Very Small Chicken Coop
Color: Red
I purchased this coop and quickly realized that it is better suited for small variety chickens. As you can see in the pictures I had 4 hens: Rhode Island Red, Buff Orpington, Speckled Sussex and Golden Comet. As previously mentioned, we had to act quick and improvise due to the cramped space. We decided to move our chicken coop inside one of our vacant horse stalls so they can have more room. We leave the doors open on the coop so they can roost inside (or on top as pictured) and lay eggs in the nesting box. Unfortunately, before the move into the horse stall we didn’t noticed that pecking had started in the small coop which quickly escalated resulting in the passing of our Rhode Island Red yesterday. That event obviously wasn’t caused by the coop, but it’s important for potential consumers of this coop to understand that adequate space for chickens is of upmost importance and I highly encourage others to attach a run of some sort because the run space below the coop is simply inadequate unless the chickens are let out every morning. Only happy hens lay eggs and happy hens like to stretch their wings and legs! Overall the coop was easy to assemble but isn’t very sturdy. We were missing several screws for the door latches (each latch was missing a screw or two) thankfully we had some similar to the same size that we used. For the time being, we’ll continue using this coop until we can turn the vacant horse stall into a hen’s paradise. ... show more

  • Be gentle during assembly.
Color: Red
Take your time, easier with two people just because it can be awkward. I used Thompsons Water Seal and LOTS of it. I did it a week before the ladies arrived so that it could be completely dried. It stayed pretty sticky for several days lol. I used heavy duty wood glue in all areas possible. If using a drill, (i recommend highly) be careful not to strip the wood out. I also treated some wood for it to sit on. The nesting bar keeps falling, but again, a 5 minute fix. The ladies love it and that's what matters. Depending on breed, i would not put more than 4 in it. My 3 barred rocks have plenty of room! And i'm the type that thinks its very cruel to pack a coop full. Read all the reviews, many great ideas to make this average coop above average and still have a great deal! ... show more

  • Flimsy but ok for beginners
Color: Red
Meh 🫤 It’s fine but its not very sturdy. The directions are not the best but I have grown use to that with coops. This holds 3 of my smaller hens just at night time. I originally used it for a momma hen and her chick. Any large hens would have trouble getting through the opening to the second level. It is very lightweight so I have it inside an enclosure that is predator proof. ... show more

  • Worth it but the nesting box is falling apart.
Color: Red
I like the best box divider. Slide out tray. Yes maybe the perch wood can be wider so the chickens can sit down on the feet while perched. Assembled using brad nails. Brad nails are for finish trim work. There is bolts that attach nesting box which is great but the rest all brad nails. Overall not bad but the nesting box is failing me bad. ... show more
