  • Perfect test kit for aquarium
I requested the Pawfly 18 in 1 Drinking Water Test Kit, 125 Strips for Tap Water Well, Swimming Pool, Aquariums to ensure that we are not poisoning our Tiger Oscar unknowingly with excessive elements such as copper, etc. Thankfully, we are not according to these test strips! Price point is acceptable when considering the peace of mind provided in regards to our aquarium and our drinking water composition. I will be moving to these strips solely after I use up the ones I already have in my inventory. Great to have peace of mind about our water quality! ... show more

  • Easy to use
This drinking water test kit is easy to use. It comes with 125 test strips can can test 17 different water parameters at once. 1. total hardness 2. free chlorine 3. iron 4. copper 5. lead 6. nitrate 7. nitrite 8. QAC/QUAT 9. total chlorine 10. fluoride 11. zinc 12. manganese 13. sodium chloride 14. total alkalinity 15. carbonate 16. pH The amount of things it tests for is extensive and I don't understand much of them like what is the test QAC/QUAT for. What is the difference between total chlorine and free chlorine? The test kit does not come with any printed instructions explaining each test so I had to Google to find out. This was a nuisance and took up much time. The kit includes: 1. Air/Water tight container with test strips. 2. Plastic test tube to hold sample water. 3. A pipette (for taking water sample) 4. A laminated color chart. 5. 3 sample kits for testing for bacteria The back of the laminated card has quick instructions for performing the test. After test tube is filled with water Dip the test strip all the way in for two seconds. Shake off excess water from strip After fifteen seconds, start comparing the colors on the strip to the chart or on the container. For Nitrite and Nitrate results, wait a full sixty seconds. Compare promptly as colors will begin to fade after five minutes or so rendering the colors invalid. This kit is absolutely useless to people who are color blind. The results are totally dependent on the shades of the colors. Even for people who are not color blind, I had a difficult time with some tests as the shade was difficult to determine. I tested my tap water and did show low readings of certain tests. There is a black line under each color showing the safe range for each test. I also tested a certain relative's swimming pool and found some disturbing results (Ex. No chlorine detected) This product did work as intended and is very easy to start the test procedure. However, the color matching for test results is at time quite difficult to match the slight variations in the color shade. I am happy with the product and will test my home water monthly to check for changes. This kit is also extremely useful when traveling overseas (3rd world Asian countries) to check the water quality. Will buy again when I run out, however, with 125 test strips, it will last me a long time. ... show more

  • Easy to use, unknown accuracy
These are very easy to use and decently easy to interpret although the color differences for some of the tests are very minute. These are the only method I have of testing water so I have no way of confirming the accuracy. Of the water samples I tested there were differences in the results from different sources so that’s at least good to see otherwise I might be more suspicious of these actually working. ... show more

  • pH and QAC/QUAT inaccurate, test distilled water at the same time
I tested two kits at once to try to decide some on accuracy but I can't formally test with known contaminants so the highest I would even possibly give is 4 stars. This test had two major flaws. The color chart for pH is inaccurate as you can see in the photos the high pH should be pinker. (I had buffer solutions so I could test this). Also, the QAC/QUAT reading was inaccurate. Distilled water tested at the same level as my tap water; fairly high. (In the second photo, tap water is on the left and distilled water on the right.) This was pretty alarming until I thought of testing tap water. Withe the exceptions of pH and QAC/QUAT the other measurements were in good agreement and comparison to distilled water matched my expectations. The flat chart on the laminated paper was easier to read than the one on the bottle, and the other only has the one on the bottle; so I liked that about this test. The test strip matched up with the chart which made it easier to read. Still it is a lot to read in about a minute so two test strips, done half at a time, would be better. The other test had better instructions and information and correct pH color scale. This test had confusing instructions for the bacteria test. Instructions say not to shake off excess water (the other test says to shake off excess water) and when you don't, you get some color bleeding between the test squares and can result in an inaccurate reading; so I say shake off excess water would be better. I thought there was no information on recommended levels, but looking at the other kit that must be what the underscores on the chart mean! Still, the chart should have been fully explained. ... show more

  • Nice Product . Great Value for 125 tests
Nicely packaged and sealed with 2 yr expiration date. I really appreciated the included laminated color change chart which is much easier to use than trying to match up using the one printed on the bottle. I tested my well and tap (after filtration system) and everything was where I expected. I am also a veterinarian and these would be nice to screen animal water sources on farm visits except that I often also need to assess sulfate levels.. My suggestion is these do not replace annual laboratory testing of wells, springs, and surface waters used by man and other animals, but with high utility for quick screening and testing between lab sampling periods. Be sure that you get test strips that cover what you need to test for--because two strips with similar number of tests may not be testing for the same things.. I did not use the bacteria tests yet. One does have to read them quickly or some of the test continues to develop and will give misreadings if delayed (read directions). There are so many times I have thought "we should probably test the water" but did not go thru the hassle of collecting, packaging, and shipping samples. Having proper test strips on hand solves that issue. ... show more
