  • Great, if it didn't make my kid cry on Christmas *Updated
Style: Marshall
Update: Some time has passed and the seller has contacted me, and has been great. My original review is below, but I'm changing my rating to be based on an objective opinion, as if the products had all the correct pieces. *I think it's also worth mentioning that toys can be judged on 1. How well deliver on their promise of what the toy is, AND 2. What the emotional/memory experience value is. Regarding Issue 1. This toy is a high 4 to almost 5 out of 5. It is extremely easy, but not over simplified, due to excellent instructions. As I mentioned in my original post, my boys are 2( now 3) and 4 and the 4 year old was able to do most of it with simple coaching from me. The instructions also had fun facts that were great and informative. Also, there is tons of stickers to personalize them. *Funny note: the kiddos were adamant regarding their dislike of the eye brow stickers:P The only knock is how they really just kind of awkwardly try to slide. For grading point 2. The excitement level and joy of doing this with the boys was definitely a 5. The let down on the wrong pieces was a tough pill to swallow. Original: Honestly, this was fun for my boys (2 & 4), until it wasn't. They were very excited when they received these. Oldest received marshall and chase for the little dude. We were putting them together (great instructions, easy to assemble). However, on of the last steps is to put the head together. I was trying to let them do as much on their own as they could. Then my oldest said, "Dad, it's not working." When I looked at it, they had shipped two right sides of the head. So, it could not be completed, and all that excitement and effort turned into confusion and sadness. Now, I'm dealing with a crying son (and he has legitimate reason for crying) on Christmas. My emotions went from heart broken for my kid, to pretty upset with the toy maker. To calm, because as a single divorced dad, I have no choice but to be the calming presence at all times. After letting him cry it out, I said what I always do in these situations. "Okay kiddo, time to stay calm and evaluate our best way to solve the issue." Fortunately, I had bought a third one to give as a prize toy at my kids bday party on the 30th. Unfortunately, it was a Chase. We were able to cannibalize the head and I promised my son we would paint it. We plopped some batteries in and away they went. Well, kind of. They don't really do much more than awkwardly sliding across the ground. Still it was okay.... ... show more

  • Comes apart easily
Style: Chase
The ears don't stay on, mainly because of the hat pulling them off. They only are pushed on, not screwed in like most of the other parts. And the commands saying that it should jump only makes it do a VERY small hop forward.

  • Great Customer Service!
Style: Chase
The media could not be loaded. **Update** I was contacted by customer service and felt they really cared for the satisfaction of their clients. Even though I'm still not satisfied with the item, I'm giving them 1 more star as I appreciate that they reached out to me first. **previous review** It wasn't as easy to assemble, material was good quality, after installing batteries, the dog couldn't even walk or flip, nothing really Entertaining for the child. I bought on sale for $9, but I wouldn't pay original $25 dollar price. ... show more

  • Cute but a pain
My daughter loves this toy. Building it with her dad was a huge highlight for her, and it was a lot of parts that were pretty easy to assemble. The biggest issue we have is the ears. They are a soft, flexible rubber that DOES NOT stay in place, especially when the goggles (which are also problematic) are attached. The ears are constantly falling off, and no matter how many kinds of adhesive I use, they just keep falling. The goggles are a thin plastic that isn't flexible enough to stay down, so they stick out constantly, and since they were bent in the package, they aren't even. They are attached under the ears, so when they move at all, they pop the ears off too. Again, I can't seem to find a single decent adhesive to keep them down. As a parent, this toy is a pain in the butt. I am disappointed that it only says like 2 things and moves one way. My 4yo daughter, on the other hand, absolutely adores her Skye robot, and she is so entertained by it. So I would say that as long as you're willing to deal with losing the ears every few minutes, it's worth the joy it brings. ... show more

  • Fun to assemble with kids
Style: Chase
This is a neat gift for kids. I got it for my nephew and we had a fun time assembling it together. Some the parts feel kind of cheap and and some tend to fall offer over time but it provided a few hours of quality time together and he still pays with it everyday. If you are buying this in terms of quality, it's not the best. There was a lot of trial and error and for some reason our box included some duplicate parts that made it confusing to put together. ... show more
