  • Surprisingly good
This manual auger held up well. I really did not want to use a power auger so opted for this light weight one. The metal is fairly light guage and I was not sure it would hold up. But I installed three lengths of iron pipe railing (pictured) with a total of 21 holes approximately 24” deep. It held up. Now, this was not the only tool used. It was augmented by a post hole digger, narrow shovel and in some cases iron pipe sledgehammered into rock. So yes, this auger was augmented. See what I did there? Hee hee It held up! ... show more

  • Works well for 4x4 posts
Puts together quickly, would have liked it to be longer.

  • Great for post digging.
This auger took about one minute to assemble. I had to dig 41 holes for an aluminum fence. Each hole had to be 2 feet deep. This worked great. Unless it is garden soil, you do have to start the hole with a shovel or post hole digger but after that, you can use this to dig the rest. It doesn't break through roots, but you can use it sitting down to make it easier on your back. This also gives your shoulders a break from the usual post hole digger. It's also much cheaper and safer than a gas-powered auger. ... show more

  • Easy
This auger is easy to use. My only wish would be that it had another extension piece. It’s not long enough to get down 3 1/2 feet to avoid frost heave.

  • This works well! In sandy loam
I have sandy loam soil that has roots from trees/shrubs that have been removed… I was absolutely shocked how well this worked.. so much easier than a shovel. I did have a smaller diameter one that I hooked into the drill and it burnt the clutch up in the drill.. I’m not in the market for a hammer drill/cement mixing drill/driver, so this really helps! ... show more

  • It works well ad long as you are ready to replace the connecting screws.

  • Works ok
Bolts continue to need tightening constantly.
