I wanted to love this hammock. I hang a hammock in the front yard mostly for looks, but also for occasional use. In the past we've had cotton hammocks but the sun and sprinklers deteriorate the material after a few years. This hammock is made out of a plastic material that feels like lawn chair fabric. It's hard and slippery and doesn't give at all when you lay on it. Even with the spreader bars, you'll slip right off if you don't stay centered. But it drains well and seems impervious to sprinklers as sun. About the only use it gets is by two little boys who weigh about 80lbs together. If cotton hammocks lasted 2-3 years I figured this one would last forever, so I kept it even though it was horribly uncomfortable. Then today, less than six month after buying it, I find a tear along one hemmed edge where the mat attaches to the strings. Just very disappointed with it in every way :-( ... show more

    • Inexcusably cheap cotton ropes

We purchased this item this Spring and have used it VERY sparingly over the summer. The hammock has been stored most times when not in use. Despite the precautions taken, several ropes have broken. The rope is made of cheap cotton. It is inexcusable that the ropes are not a nylon braid. There are better options at this price point. UPDATE: The review of the product stands. Within a day of posting my first review the ropes on the other end started breaking in half with nobody using the hammock. I would give the item 0 stars because of the ropes if I could. That said, customer service was outstanding. They get 5 stars for stepping up and doing the right thing. I just hope the manufacturer learns from this experience and improves the rope quality. The hammock itself appears to be constructed out of materials made to withstand the elements. That is what makes the decision in relation to the ropes even more perplexing. ... show more

Just arrived today and put it up in 10 minutes! Comfortably fits 2 adult humans a 35lb doggo. We're loving it! Will definitely be storing it indoors for the winter because of the material. Would definitely recommend though. Great price.

Update 7/19: The replacement one they sent me is disentigrating like the first one did. Not worth spending the money on this hammock unless you wanna throw it away after a few months Update 11/18: They sent me a replacement but as agreed I am not going to give them a good review until I know it was just a fluke the first hammock was bad quality. I got the blue one, the edges (trim) on the left and right sides is falling apart. It's like powder, if you bump into it it leaves a blue powder all over you. It dries pretty fast but it also doesn't "breathe" well, so if you're on it and it's hot then you're just sweating onto it. When it is windy you can't feel the wind through the hammock so it gets pretty hot. It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't falling apart. I got it in March and a few months later it was already rubbing off. ... show more

The major problem with this hammock is that it catches the wind like a sail. Within minutes of getting up, if it is windy it twirls until the rope ends are tight. Then it literally stands on its side and looks like a billboard. If I still had the box I would return. Will be donating this to Goodwill and buying one that allows air to flow through without being sideways 50% of the time. Even the neighbors commented that it looked like a huge sign in our yard. I had a single wide hammock similar to this models material and construction. I would leave it hanging outdoors most of the Spring, Summer and Fall and it lasted for many, many, many years. That is until the squirrels and birds started clawing and pecking at the ropes for nesting material. The pests managed to fray and break two of the cords. This hammock will hold up to the weather elements BUT watch for those pesky varmints that will start gnawing on the cords. The material is light and airy, cooling. drains and dries quickly and does not stick to any exposed flesh. The cords are durable (except for gnawing varmints), the wooden spreader bars could use a light rubbing with a fine steel wool and re-varnished with a marine type varnish after a few years of continuous outdoor use. The nickel plated hardware should not rust. If anything does slide out of your pockets it will not fall through any open netting and onto the ground as on some other netted hammocks. In this hammock anything that does slide out of your pockets ends up under your backside. This hammock is very, very, very comfortable......SO....a Safety Tip: Don't fall asleep in the hammock roasting under the sun's rays. ... show more

I live in Hawaii where I can rain everyday and this thing dryes so fast I couldn’t believe it! We leave it uncovered in. The back yard and within a few hours it’s dry and ready to use.
