We bought this for use at home after my husband had a hospital stay for heart arrythmia. Because this diagnosis is new for us we like to periodically check and make sure that his heart has a normal rhythm when he feels "Off". it has given us piece of mind. Our doctor did let us hear what a normal rhythm sounds like and the AFIB sounds like so we know what to look for. All that I ask of a stethoscope is that when I go to use it, that it functions as designed and that it is good for the value of the money. I do understand that some doctors and nurses have their preferences when it comes to weight, ease of use, sound quality, etc. This one definitely serves its purpose. It is not the cadillac of stethoscopes. with that said, when I have taken it out to use as a backup, it has never failed to give me a sound that is too hard to hear to knock it to 2-3 stars. In a pinch, these work fine and that is what I purchased these for. If you are looking for a workhorse to use day in and day out, invest in something more substantial. ... show more
