The media could not be loaded. I was a coffee professional for 8 years and have been lucky to be able to use high end specialty coffee grade equipment. My standards may be a little high but I hope this review will help you understand what you're getting. I ordered this item twice because I wasn't happy with the first one so I've had two to compare. Was very happy with the service - was handled completely through Amazon without a hitch. BAD The conical burrs didn't line up. I took it apart and put it back together and they line up a little better. One of the grinders squeaks when it's being rotated. It sounds like the metal spring may be is being twisted the wrong way but both grinders have the spring in the same "direction" and only one of them squeaks. GOOD Consistently made great cups of coffee using this grinder and a Hario V60. Maybe 85% the quality of what I was able to make in the coffee shop with pro equipment. There's a pentagonal metal shaft that attaches to the grinder key. If you have a drill you can use it to grind your coffee in 1-3 minutes. Electric screwdriver won't work because they're hexagonal. Otherwise I think it would take 10-15 minutes to grind for a cup! You could probably do better at the next higher price point but this is a good place to start if you're on a budget. The materials are good quality but it's not fitted together precisely. I bet a higher quality grinder would have that precision build for more consistent grind size. This is a great purchase if you have a drill, you're on a budget and you want to make good coffee. If you have more to spend I would shoot for an electric burr grinder at around $100 or one of the higher build quality hand grinders at maybe $50-60 ... show more

I prefer burr grinders for making french press coffee because it's pretty easy to dial in the exact grind. This is very similar to ones I've had before from other manufacturers, but at a much lower price. I actually ordered this one because my other one broke, and I was desperate to get one quickly, and this could be delivered the next day. It works well, though it takes a little longer to grind a full serving than my previous grinders. Not sure what the difference is, because they look exactly the same. Taking an extra 30 seconds to find coffee isn't the end of the world. This does a good job, and when this one eventually wears out, I'll probably get another. ... show more

Bought this because both my electric and my old manual grinder died at the same time. It's incredible that you can get a coffee grinder for about $11. It's a reasonable value for money. But it stinks in terms of performance: I finally found my old Hario grinder after having used this one for a few days, and this one takes 3x longer to grind at the same fineness and doesn't have as comfortable a handle. Worked in a pinch but I'm switching it to be a dedicated sichuan pepper grinder after the parts arrive to repair my electric grinder. I'm not emotionally equipped to spend that much time grinding in the morning before I've had any coffee. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I saw some of the reviews saying it wouldn’t work right and decided to give it a chance anyway. The grinder will hit the wall spinning the handle, there’s no way this thing is going to give an even grind. I suspect that in its present state it would actually break itself if I tried to use it. I’ll come back to this review after I try the washer and nut solution. Update 1: there’s nothing a washer or nut can do to make the burr line up. I’ve set it so that it’s as tight as it will go without hitting itself. If it makes good coffee I might add another star, but you know even at this cheap price I expect something to at least kind of work without damaging itself when it arrives. Is that harsh? I don’t know. Do you like it when something arrives and does not work as advertised? If you rely just on star ratings and don’t read reviews you won’t have a good idea of what to expect if you buy it. Edit 08/03/2023 It can do a medium to course grind and the coffee tastes good. That said, it could be a better grinder. If I try to do anything finer than medium, it would damage itself. As a starter grinder for french press or drip, works great. I picked this up to grind my own beans. works good for grinding course or fine coffee depending on your selection. it's a little hard to turn the crank handle, but it's no big deal. works fine for it's intended purpose...but I got a little lazy and started buying ground coffee. at some point I'll go back to whole bean and either use this again or buy another powered grinder... good for travel? idk - I never traveled with it. I just use it from time to time when I get whole bean coffee. I'd recommend it to a friend, because it works good. GL. ... show more
