I wanted to start dictating notes on my Ipad, but read a bunch of articles on how writing on the iPad with the iPencil (or whatever it is called) can be awkward because of how slippery the glass is. As a user of the Remarklable 2, I wanted something to add a minor amount of friction to the writing process. The Paperlike does this, but I wish it had a bit more texture. It adds some friction, but it is still very different than writing on paper (which the Remarkable 2 did well, but it can't be used with more corporate network like Apple products can). ... show more

It is exactly how it is advertised, the YouTube video which you are directed to watch for installation instructions are really easy and brief! It’s good that the inventor is the one giving instructions! The product really feels like paper which make it easier to use when using your Apple Pencil. Usually the pencil slips and slides on the regular screen which distort your penmanship but with this product you definitely feel like you’re writing in your notebook. It’s a great product that I would recommend over and over. HOWEVER…. It does not protect against kid’s use of the iPad/tablet. It is NOT a screen protector. For adult use I would recommend this all day, everyday! ... show more

I purchased an iPad for the first time specifically for handwriting notes when working with health coaching clients so I wanted a screen protector that would give a paper feel and protect the screen from heavy pencil use. I chose to buy the Paperlike protector as I’d read a lot of negatives about copy cat products. I’ve just installed it so all I can say for sure so far is that the installation of the protector is convoluted. Probably the most aggravating process I’ve been through for a screen protector application so far. I prefer ones that provide a tray that aligns with the device so all you have to do is press it on and push out any bubbles, they’re easy. But this one tells you to line up the protector and then apply 4 stickers to keep it in place. Except that the side of the protector that’s on the screen at this point is very slippery so it’s basically impossible to line it up properly. If you move a single muscle it gets out of line. A matte back or anti-slip type of lining could probably make a difference. Then you have to lift your hands to apply the stickers so it gets out of alignment. I recommend putting the stickers on before you even try to line it up. I spent a good 15+ minutes just trying to line it up properly and it still came out crooked. The other downside to the slippery backing is that it attracts dust like crazy so when you’re cleaning the screen be sure to clean the protector liners as well. I didn’t clean the outside of the protectors well enough and still got small pieces of dust under the protector that must have fallen on the screen as I removed the backing. I messed up a corner of the protector trying to lift it to clean up the dust. It’s still to be seen how well it holds up or works with the pencil but the application process was enough for me to hate it already. ... show more

Once you get the screen protector on, you will NEED TO disconnect and reconnect your Apple Pen (otherwise it will not register on the screen). I contacted the company and this was there advice and it WORKED PERFECTLY! The product is great and adds the protection I need. Be aware that your screen will have a glazed look now (it's not bad and functions fine). If you want to have that crystal clear look on the screen you will need to use a different screen protector. Over all I'd rate this a solid 4 stars (just because of the difficulty in installing it). ... show more

I've been using these protectors since the very start, when the company started. I was searching for something that would give me a slightly less "computery" feeling when writing. I heavily use my ipads for notes taking/thinking. iPads are very good themselves, and the apple pencil is marvelous. But! This protector gives it that feeling of writing on a paper like (not intended :) ) surface. While I can't say that I tried all the protectors on the market, I can definitely say that I don't want to, there's no need. These are so good and are exactly what I'm looking for. ... show more

    • Not as great as I thought it would be

I wanted to love this, but just don't. ESPECIALLY for the steep price. After using it for less than two weeks on my new iPad (mostly just for digital planning, not intense drawing or anything), I noticed when the iPad was off or in dark mode, I could see remnants of my writing on the Paperlike. I was disappointed by this so contacted their customer service to see if that was normal. They basically said yes, that is normal and will happen but that it doesn't affect the usability. Which um, it actually does becuase I don't want to see my chicken scratch everywhere. Of course they recommended I check the pencil tip (less than two weeks old), make sure I am not pressing too hard (I'm not) and try cleaning it (I did). They were really quick to offer me a new Paperlike which is nice, but not what I wanted. I don't want a NEW one only to run into the same problem, I want this to not happen in the first place. So I decided to try using the new one they sent me to see if maybe the first one getting scratched was a fluke. NOPE! The second one was scratched the same way in two days. Not only that, but these are incredibly hard to install. They do have a great tutorial video and a clever way of doing it, but I wasted two Paperlikes because unless it is exactly perfect on ALL SIDES then any other case you have will push on it too much and cause annoying air bubbles. Overall, if the price wasn't so high I may not worry about this stuff but I would not recommend nor would I purchase again because of these issues. ... show more

The paper like feel is fantastic. A much needed improvement over the current iPad screen if your goal is to write. However, the installation is tough to get right. I did all of the cleaning and had a snafu at the last moment after I had peeled the backing so there's a few bubbles from some errant dirt. I guess the good news is that you get two protectors but at forty dollars, it's not exactly a bargain. ... show more
