I may hate the name, but I absolutely love this paper cutter! The Ecraft Heavy Duty 12" Guillotine has been a game changer for me at school. I’ve used it for several months now to cut the spines off workbooks while setting up for the school year, and it works amazingly well. Before this, cutting papers in half took forever because I could only do about 10-20 sheets at a time and had to constantly hover over the cutter. Now I can quickly cut around 60- 200 papers at once with clean, precise cuts and much less effort. It has saved me so much time and frustration. Unbelievable! Everything is straight up made of steel. It's incredible quality. The instructions are simple and clear, though they weren't really needed because this thing arrived fully assembled basically. I love it. It cuts entire books like butter. I am a professional book binder and this will do wonders for my little business. 🔥 Well done. I have no idea why there are any bad reviews on this. It's like they're reviewing an entirely different machine. Maybe the manufacturers took their advice and perfected it. Because this is literally perfect.     • Cuts a stack of paper cleanly & smoothly; guides not accurate, but you can adjust for them reliably.
Two things about this guillotine that you should know: be sure to check the accuracy of the positioning guide and its distance from the blade by doing test cuts on cheap paper -- I was cutting 9x12 paper down to A4 size, and the width was off by 1.5 mm. Not a lot, but noticeable, but also I could correct for it, once I knew. I also had to cut the length of the paper, and I had to use a piece of cardboard already the right length to position the guide because the markings on the base of the cutter did not go that far. But I was able to cut the paper to the proper length by setting the positioning guide manually. (Edited to add: when cutting a longer sheet down, you cannot cut it as long as 12", you can only cut it as long as 11-13/16". For example, I wanted to cut 14" legal paper down to 12" long, and I could not do it. This was disappointing. I'm not taking any stars off for this, however.) The other thing to be careful about is the amount of "give" in the positioning guide, from top to bottom. In order to get a straight cut, you must carefully set both the top and the bottom of the guide to the same distance, and then hold it there while you tighten down the guide. I wasn't expecting too much from a guillotine at this price point, so the above things did not upset me, since I was able to correct for them by being careful and thorough. In its job of cutting a stack of paper cleanly and smoothly, it does an excellent job. The blade is sharp, and there are appropriate safeguards so you don't cut yourself in the process. Excellent quality and workmanship. The construction is very solid, and it cuts extremely easily and cleanly. The accuracy was just slightly off (about 1/16"), but it sliced through 20 sheets like butter and produced a straight, crisp edge every time. I’ve used it on everything from paper and cardstock to 2‑ply and 4‑ply matte board, as well as 20‑page booklets. Overall, great performance and excellent value for the money. ... show more

    • Heavy duty but not great quality
Came used with the return slip included (dated 2 weeks before I purchased). More importantly the blade was dull and straight edge was not square. Whenever I would try to cut, the paper would get pulled inward closest to the blade and crinkle the paper. Not great quality despite heavy weight of machinery. There was also a residue that transferred onto the paper and ruined it. ... show more
