    • Good multi-function printer
I like the print, copy and scan mode. The setup is not clear and easy for a lot of the more advanced feature. For me that not a big deal, but make sure you have technically experienced friend or family member to help. Things like scan to email or to disk are only using last century's (millennia?) technology. It works okay with USB cable Windows but had lots of problems with Apple MacBook. Also required hub/adapter to connect with Apple laptop. MacBook also needed something from the App Store but don't remember which app helped. The auto document feed (ADF) works well. Lifting the and placing the paper to copy did show that top and left "border" are cut off and require manually leaving a 1/8" gap from the edges so nothing is lost. Scanned to PDF work very well for me. I have not tried edit those PDFs with simple free software but I'm sure the pricey Adobe Acrobat PDF editor will do everything to any PDF. The scan to email also uses the ancient and unsecure email account's name and password stored on the printer. Since that name and password point to the email (SMTP) server, be warned of pending problems awaiting. The scan to email should not be used with personal email account. My opinion on using the FTP option is, "stay away and do not try to use this feature". Enough said on this point. For printing, this black & white printer is great. Be careful how many duplex (double sided) pages you print at once. Seems to heat up and jam after 10-15 sheets of paper, while printing single sided has never jammed up on me. I use duplex a lot for short 2-10 pages which is just the right amount of 1-5 sheets. Have not looked for 3rd party toner cartridges as the ones sold are a good price at this time. If in a few years, the toner goes up then replacing the printer is fine with me. For the expensive HP and Xerox printers used before, I required the cheap 3rd party toner to keep the asset expenses in line with my personal 5-10 year budget. With this pricing model a can replace the printer every 3 years if needed. Probably with better, newer compatibility and secure features.     • Envelopes come out terrible
I bought this printer for business and legal correspondence with the understanding it could print envelopes. It will print them, but they are certainly not professional looking or presentable. Envelopes come out looking like they’ve been run over by a truck. If this is important to you as it is to me, do not buy this machine. ... show more

Not a great printer all we have had are errors and problems with it.

    • Not great for printing more than two pages at a time!
I bought this printer for law school, so naturally I needed to print large quantities of documents. After a couple pages, the printer would freeze up and say "printing in progress" even if it isn't printing anything. I've waited 45 minutes to let it continue on the "printing in progress" screen. The only thing that seems to work is turning it off and then back on, but then it only prints two pages and the cycle continues. Definitely designed for patient people. ... show more
