  • My personal favorite camera
Style: With LUMIX 12-60mm Leica DG Lens
Always wanted a gh5 growing up and after using the gh5 m2 for a while now I can say that it is a great camera. The auto focusing works very well and the image quality is great too. I like using the variable frame rate for slow motion.

  • Big upgrade...in the small things
Style: Body Only
Folks have said this is a small upgrade from the original GH5...and that's true if all you're looking at are resolutions and frame rates. But there is small many small video assists that make this a much more compelling camera. First off...the video continuous autofocus (using some of Panasonics native, high-end zooms like the Pana-Leica 12-60) is incredibly, INCREDIBLY faster and more reliable. Secondly, the Linear Focus Lens Control (again, only on FW updated higher end lenses) is a game changer! The thing that consistently was the hardest thing on my GH5 or G9 was the ability to nail manual focus. The Linear Setting makes it so much easier, when paired with the higher-resolutions LCD Screen. I've already had a few successful live streams to Facebook, completely untethered, for over an hour. So that's a feature I have already found incredibly useful. And the anti-glare coating does improve the look of my photos in harsh sunlight. Oh, and back to frame-rates, I find that it now has UHD 60p with a 10-bit options means that I don't have to think about "Do I want 10-bit OR UHD?" Now I can have both! It was a factor that sometimes kept me out of 60p on my GH5. Same goes for all of their anamorphic or C4k settings. 10-bit is the new standard. So would I tell someone to find a used GH5 or buy a new GH5ii, I would totally recommend the GH5ii. Plus, firmware updates will probably trickle to this in the upcoming years, but have stopped for the GH5. So I highly recommend this over the original! ... show more

  • Great camera, after cleaning, battery, charger contacts
Style: With LUMIX 12-60mm Leica DG Lens
I purchased a Panasonic LUMIX GH5M2, ,with the 12-60mm F2.8-4.0 Leica Lens DC-GH5M2LK here, but the battery did not last for a 15 min video, and that does not let the cam charge from USB when the battery runs out of power. I decided to clean the battery and charger contacts today, and now it is working well. I am recording a video now and surpassed 1 hour and 45 minutes. I will update my review. ... show more

  • Limited compatibility with Mac.
Style: With LUMIX 12-60mm Leica DG Lens
Seems like a high quality camera. However, if you wish to download your photos to a Mac, it is extremely difficult. Haven’t figured out a way to download RAW photos. So far convert them a lower quality photo, them download. Have used Nikon for decades. Should have stayed.

  • Almost Perfect…
Style: With LUMIX 12-60mm Leica DG Lens
As someone who started with the GH4 early on, then moved on to the GH5. I can say the new GH5II is an excellent evolution, and worth the upgrade. Especially at the later discount price of $200 less. The image quality is noticeably sharper. Not sure if it is related to the newer processor, or the Anti-Reflective coating, or maybe both. It could also be related to the improved IBIS or a combination of all three that contributes to the over all sharper images, but the end results are discernibly better. I picked up a pair of Wasabi BLK-22 batteries that seem to work with both the GH5 and GH5II. Even with the Neewer third party battery grip and the OEM Grip, the batteries work in both. The Menu system seems even more nuanced as it is usable, and function-able. I have not delved too deep into the live streaming function, but that is because it is not currently a need of mine. But I am sure it works well enough, as I have seen it in online reviews doing so. the Red video record button, and ring around the function dial add a bit of character, like on the GH5S. Also, the programmable function buttons are the same amount, with a couple of them that have switched places, or marked slightly different. The LCD is the same physical size, but the viewable area is slightly less (.20”), and brighter. Honestly I hardly notice. Dynamic range is a tad higher, ISO performance better, Focus Sensitivity is better, Bracketing Range higher, max resolution better, Animal and human eye tracking superior. Just all round great improvements. To my eye it also seems to work better in low light than the original GH5. Even DXOMark rates measures it 335 points higher (1136), which elevates the GH5II into APS-C territory. Then there is the Auto-Focus. All of the improvements seem to have dramatically made the Auto-focus better. I have had little to no complaints. Though I would not call it perfect, I would say quite usable, when needed. If you know your way around the GH5 AF system, it is completely adequate for “professional use.” Anyone that says otherwise is not a very skilled nor a knowledgeable operator. The new RED BOX RECORD indicator is such a simple yet essential feature that makes one wonder why it was not done before. There is also a BLUE BOX to indicate Live Streaming too. My only real gripe is that Panasonic did not update this camera sooner, they could have, when they released the G9 which has somewhat the same componentry. A definite faux pas. Still, a beast of a camera and well worth the coin… . ... show more
