  • Bluetooth cell phone integration is awesome
Color: Metallic Black Size: 4 Handsets Pattern Name: Phone
Picked up this set for my elderly parents who have both a home landline and cell phones each. I wasn't sure this was going to be easy for them to use/operate but so far they like it. I did do the setup work for them but I followed the included instructions which were pretty simple. I setup the base station (power & landline connection), recorded a voice message, set the time/date, paired my mom's iPhone 11 to the base station, and imported all her contacts into the phone system. Then we played around with making and receiving calls. It was very straightforward and similar to their other Vtech phones. When the cell phone's BT connection is paired, you can choose which way to originate a call outbound... you can dial out from landline # or cellphone # which means the receiving caller will see the appropriate caller ID #. Inbound calls also show if the call originated to landline or BT line. The call block button couldn't be easier to use... and works. This system is so slick I'm actually thinking of buying one for my home where I have VoIP landline and cellular phones in use. Display panels in handsets have larger font size and I think the ringer volume is plenty loud so parents are happy about that too. Only ding I can see... the included AAA batteries for handsets are small 300mAh NiMH units... I already bought larger capacity AAA NiMH replacements in ~1000mAh capacity so each handset can run longer if needed. Overall, I'm super happy with this kit and all the great and still easy-to-use features! ... show more

  • Panasonic making cheaper phones and dropping critical features
Color: Metallic Black Size: 4 Handsets Pattern Name: Phone
I think I can safely say I am an authority on Panasonic cordless phones. I have purchased just about every single newly released cordless model for the past few years. Since my phone is the most important device I use in my home, it is the one that gets upgraded every year. For the most part, I love Panasonic cordless phones. I have yet to buy one that did not perform to exceedingly high expectations. I really don't have any complaints about the performance of these phones. They work very well out of the box, though I must admit, there can be a huge learning curve in all the menu commands --- especially when it comes to keyboard shortcuts to getting the things you want to be accomplished with the phone. But here is the rub.... I suppose, like anything else, Panasonic keeps making their phones dumber than the last model. The build quality diminishes while great features are taken away. Instead of building quality phones with first-rate feature sets, Panasonic is more interested in making cheaper phones to attract more buyers. I remember a time when the Panasonic cordless phones had a flashing light on the antenna to alert people of awaiting phone messages. That feature disappeared about 2-3 years ago. While I understand Panasonic did away with the little nub antenna with the light, this was a feature that could easily have been incorporated into the base. I have been wanting to replace my Mother's aging Panasonic cordless phone for years, but the fact that they took away that flashing notification light is the reason why I can't. My Mother depends on it. Next, up until this year, the phones came with little belt clips that snapped on the back of the phone. This way you could carry the phone around with you on your belt if you were expecting a call. Panasonic no longer includes those belt clips. Next, the base has become lighter. Not a good thing as it easily can be tipped over. It's certainly not as heavy as the bases included with past models. Finally, if you could believe it, these phones used to come with input jacks that you could plug a headset into the module. Imagine that! Well, that option disappeared long ago as Panasonic continued to dumb these phones down. The main point I am making here is that Panasonic is continuing to dumb down these cordless phones. They feel cheaper in quality and they lose accessories and/or features with each new release. There is also the fact that an extra handset costs more than half the price of the entire phone set itself is another major sticking issue. $50 for an extra handset when the system itself can be had for just under $100 from some vendors. That is ridiculous. There are a few pluses here.... First, Panasonic has made it much easier to block phone calls. There is an addition of a CALL BLOCK button on the face of the handset that you can just press when an unwanted phone number is displayed. You can also go into the menu, review your list of phone calls, and press the block button. It still takes waaaaay too many steps to block calls using the menu method and I wish Panasonic would make that effort a little easier. I can understand how to do it, but I am not sure the elderly will. Too many steps. Next, there is integration with Amazon Alexa an Google Voice which is a nice feature. It also works with the Dect 6.0 extender (KX-TGA405B1) that I had previously attached to last year's cordless phone model. For less than $25, I highly recommend this extender device as it allows you to double the range of your cordless phone. I have a large yard and I can walk around it and talk on the phone with no signal degradation. I don't use the answering machine as I have Verizon Fios Voice Mail. The answering machine feature is nice, but if you don't want it, it can easily be disabled. Hearing volume on the handset and via speakerphone is fine. No problems hearing the person on the other end. Otherwise, this year's model looks pretty much like the previous year. Again, no major cosmetic changes but you do lose the belt clips. If Panasonic is reading this, I hope they understand that they need to go back to making these phones superior to other brands by offering better voicemail alerts (a flashing base light would be great), heavier bases that don't tip over, and the inclusion of belt clips. This is not meant to be a scathing review. My negativity is towards what things were lost from previous models. However, I do highly recommend this particular set for 2017/2018. They are quality phones despite the cheaper build. ... show more

  • Excellent Phone system with great features!
Color: Metallic Black Size: 4 Handsets Pattern Name: Phone
The set of phones I bought were refurbished so my comments on that aspect are that the phones did not arrive in the retail box but were individually wrapped and secured in the shipping box which was what the seller described. Each piece looked brand new with no indications it was previously used and the batteries that came with the system were new. I received all of the original parts with my order and would not hesitate to purchase a Panasonic refurbished system again. In regards to the KX-TGD564M system I am very pleased with the clear reception between the handsets and the link2cell function works great. I have these phones setup on a two story house with the base unit on the first floor and the other units on the second. The sound between the handsets is clear and the bluetooth connection to my cell is clear. The setup of these units from scratch was not difficult and I found the manual easy to understand the the online tutorials on setting up certain features to be helpful. My phone was an LG XStyle so the bluetooth setup was your typical generic android phone. There are apps you can download to go with this system but I have not tried any of those yet. I will update my review if I do. If you are looking for a basic phone system then you are paying for more than you will use but if you want the Link2Cell feature then I recommend this set. ... show more

  • Wonderful for Home or Office
Color: Metallic Black Size: 4 Handsets Pattern Name: Phone
Our old PANASONIC phones finally stopped working but we liked the brand so much we replaced with this set. It was easy to set up and uses a lot of the same functions as other Panasonic phones, making it perfect for my 80yr old mother to adjust to the new phones. We had not realized the age and condition of our last set until we started using this one. The calls are crystal clear even for my slightly hearing impaired mother. The battery life is almost twice as long as the past phones we have used. We highly recommend this set for your home or office. ... show more
