Each color handset can be placed to a different room. No more confusion which handset goes to which base. What's more, the system is expandable up to 5 handsets. You can choose different color handset to expand your system: Silver - CS6509 (available on Amazon) Green- CS6509-14 (available on vtechphones.com) Blue - CS6509-15 (available on vtechphones.com) Red - CS6509-16 (available on Amazon) The power conserving technology reduces power consumption for optimal battery performance according to the distance between the telephone base and the handset. When the telephone base communicates with the handset, ECO mode will be activated automatically. This telephone has a built in answering system, and it also supports Voicemail if you have subscribed the service from your service provider. Different indicators used for two different types of voice messages: those left on the built-in answering system and those left at your telephone service provider’s voicemail. If "XX new messages" display on the handsets and the message window on the telephone base flashes, they are messages recorded on the built-in answering system. If "New voicemail" display on the handsets, your telephone service provider is indicating that it has new voicemail for you. Note: contact your telephone service provider for more information on how to access your voicemail. It can record and store up to 99 messages, depending on the length of each message. Each message can be up to 3 minutes in length. The total storage capacity for the announcement, messages and memos is approximately 14 minutes. If you subscribe to caller ID and call waiting service from your service provider, information about each caller will appear after the first or second ring. The caller ID log stores up to 50 entries. Each entry has up to 24 digits for the phone number and 15 characters for the name. You can review, redial and copy an entry into the phonebook directory. The large handset screen and the lighted handset keypad allows for easy dialing in low-light conditions. With the touch of a button, the handset speakerphone makes the hands-free conversation easy. The directory can store up to 50 entries which are shared by all system handsets. Each entry may consist of a phone number up to 30 digits and a name up to 15 characters. Directory entries are shared by all system handsets. You can copy up to 9 directory entries into the speed dial locations (0 and 2-9) so that you can dial these numbers using fewer keys than usual. Silence the ringer on the handset and base unit immediately, or for an extended period of time. This system allow you to connect a outside call with two system handsets for a three-way conferencing. You can remotely access the answering system from any touch-tone telephone. Check messages, repeat, delete or change the out-going announcement.
