This is a pretty fun little novelty. No...it does not sound like my vintage Bach Stradivarius, but it's not meant to. It's basically a plastic tube with valves. The valves on this trumpet are sticky, but a little valve oil rubbed directly on the valves helped a ton. The plastic mouthpieces (2) that come with this trumpet are horrible, but it will accommodate a traditional mouthpiece. The mouthpiece receptor is VERY rough and WILL scratch the shank of your mouthpiece. Because I use this plastic trumpet for "fun" vs. performance, I use a cheap mouthpiece with the Pampet vs. my daily, more expensive mouthpiece. It has been fun switching back and forth between my Bach and the Pampet to see how clear and close I can get the sounds. It's a good challenge for any good trumpet player and for $60 it was a fun toy to get! I might even try practicing in the shower! Ha Ha!! ... show more

I bought the PAMPET Professional Plastic Bb Trumpet Set more as a novelty and because I was curious to see if the plastic trumpets would have the same sound as a metal one, and it was fun while it lasted. However, as a professional trumpet player, I found it difficult to keep the tone and pitch consistent. The trumpet often caused my embouchure to slot into weird half-notes between the actual notes, which made it challenging to get a clean sound. While it might work fine for beginners or those just starting out, it’s not ideal for someone looking for professional-level performance. It’s a good starting point, but for more serious players, it doesn’t quite cut it. As a novelty, it may be fine, however. I guess it depends on what you're looking for. ... show more

Great trumpet for at home so he doesn't have to lug his other trumpet back and forth from school. The only negative is the mouthpiece is a little flimsy. But I'd recommend to buy.

Sound's like leaky horn, but it's not leaky, compression is good. Sounds worse than vuvuzela There might be a problem with the bore size. Bore seems to be too big, and takes a lot of air to get some kind of sound. I measured bore size on the middle slide 0.50 inch (that is way too big) Keyed in Bd its easier to play when any valve is pressed down, that is why I thing bore size vs length I would make it with smaller bore maybe medium or small and experiment with different pipe thickness it's very hard to play and you will get a plastic sound, that is another problem; you have to play without thinking of the sound and just expect some kind of standing wave ... show more
