My fish tank water was very dirty that I had to replace all of it. I do wish I ordered this sooner. This made it easy to clean the gravel. It does get your hand from all the pumping but it works as described.

    • Incoherent assembly instructions and barely functional
What a disappointment. The instructions are not in coherent English and miss several steps with no photos to guide. Even when it is together it barely pulls up anything and you can only get it out by turning the whole thing upside down.

I bought it because I wanted to clean the gravel in my fish tank. The first use was fine, but it doesn’t clean the gravel, and leaks all over your hand . It sucks very little up, and the second time it didn’t work. I contacted the seller and they referred to it as a “water changer” and told me to take it apart and clean it and reassemble it. ... show more

This is the first time I have tried aquarium gravel cleaner. I ordered this one because it looked sturdy and the presentation and description seemed appealing. The instructions are on the back of the box and I will be storing the gravel cleaner in the box. After using it I let it dry out before storing it in the box. I used it to try and clean the gravel in my 5-gallon tank and it does work. I had to stir up the gravel to get the sediment to swirl around the tank but just seeing the sediment in the water made me decide it is best to just clean the tank. I will try using this to clean the gravel in between cleanings but more than likely I will use this to just empty the tank. It was a little hard to squeeze the trigger but once I got the flow going the tank emptied into my buckets quickly. I had to stop and empty the buckets a few times but was very pleased that I did not have to use a plastic cup to empty the tank. Eventually, I will give the brush head and algae scrapper a try but not too sure these will make a difference. This was the first time using the gravel cleaner and it definitely made my job of cleaning the fish tank much easier. Next, I will use it to empty the 10-gallon frog tank. I see in the illustration that you can leave the fish in the tank while you clean the gravel but I would not do so because I am afraid I would suck up a fish. I would buy this gravel cleaner again. Update: I used the gravel cleaner to empty the 30-gallon fish tank and it worked flawlessly for me. I wanted to do a full cleaning of the tank and everything in the tank but first needed to empty the water and there is no way to pick up a 30-gallon tank full of water. I saved 15 one-gallon spring water jugs which I use to fill my tanks. After I filled up 15 jugs I had my family help me empty them into our woods. Then I filled them again and emptied them in the woods and then we put the used jugs in the recycle bins. After cleaning the tank it took about 28 gallons because I have a heater, two different types of filters a UV light, and a good number of decorations that have lots of holes so my fish can swim freely throughout the entire tank which all displace the water level.     • Take some getting used to
I like to use this in between tank, cleanings and water changes to keep my fishes environment healthy. It takes a little bit of getting used to and some work to really figure it out but it works well once you get it down. I was worried that I was going to suck my fish up into this but I did not. It does a pretty good job of getting some of the excess muck out of the tank in between deeper cleanings and water changes. This tool makes the aquarium cleaning a breeze. A must have tool for any aquarium owners. This tool makes the aquarium cleaning a breeze. Its best to clean the gravels without removing the fish/ornaments/gravel out of tank. It was very easy to put together the parts and start cleaning. This tool can be customized according to your need. Ex. If you have smaller tanks then use only one15.75inch water inlet pipe instead of connecting 2x15.75 inch pipes. Also the water outlet hose is very lengthy as its 80.70 inches. Once you connect the inlet and outlet tubes with corresponding connectors, fix the water flow clamp for adjusting the water size. It can be done with your hand as well because the tube is flexible. Best feature of it is the filter basket net which is inbuilt in the tool. This helps small fishes, or my ghost shrimps being sucked out during cleaning. Only disadvantage is the trigger mechanism. It’s hard to pull the trigger to suck the water.
