  • But this!
Size: ALTO #6
It’s not perfect. It’s comparable to an otto link tho for 1/4 the price it’s a no brainer. BUY THIS it’s amazing and I love it for marching band

  • Great Mouthpiece For the Money
Size: ALTO #6
The mouthpiece is well constructed. I like the ligature attachment and how it doesn't detract from the mouthpiece. It also would allow any other ligature to be used. The tone is great for mid-tones. The intonation gets a little iffy in the upper notes. This is the case for most mouthpieces, and it's really no worse than average. While I like the ligature, I find it a bit hard to tighten down well enough. Not sure what could be changed here, but I find I have to crank it pretty tightly. I didn't find it was particularly good at getting that "metal jazz" tone I was looking for. I tried several reeds at several strengths just to be sure. I also don't think it's particularly good at altissimo. It's very difficult to get some of those notes and the ones I could get were out of tune. It seems like the higher the note, the more problems. Overall, for the cost and for a High School level player, it's fantastic! ... show more

  • For a sub $60 metal mouthpiece, I can't find anything else to recommend new.
Size: ALTO #6
I'm going to start off this review by saying this mouthpiece is not for beginners. With a relatively large tip opening, and a low baffle (the ceiling of the piece), this mouthpiece needs a little bit of skill to master. With that being said, once mastered, this piece can be mistaken for a piece two or even three times the price. As lead alto in a jazz environment I can say this piece works great for cutting through even the loudest of 'bones and trumpets. With a lot of mouthpieces I use; Vandoren V16 (alto), Vandoren Jumbo Java (alto), D'Addario select jazz (tenor), and otto link super tone master (tenor), this piece plays nearly as good, if not as good as these big name pieces. With all of this praise, however, one has to ask what the downs are to an inexpensive metal mouthpiece. Well there aren't many if I'm completely honest. The receiving end of the piece, the part one slides onto the cork, is quite tight, but that isn't something a little bit of cork grease cant resolve. The piece also has a bit of an intonation issue, but again, this is a cheap mouthpiece... I'm having to nit pick here. I've also had some trouble finding a good reed for it. At the moment Vandoren Blue Box 2.5s are sealing great and I'm loving the sound this mouthpiece produces. ... show more

  • Good deal for $60
Size: ALTO #6
The media could not be loaded. You can get that bright, slightly dirty sound with this. I would have given five stars if the intonation was better - it gets flat up around C to C# in both the middle and upper range. You have to lip it up. I can't do altissimo, but I suspect someone with the skill could do it with this piece (judging from my occasional unintended squeals). You can play soft and sweet too. A little weak in the very top range, but strong elsewhere. The reed bed and exterior are smooth and polished. The baffle and chamber are not polished (wish they were). I'd recommend it to someone with limited funds who wants to experiment with medium-high baffle metal piece, or wants to have one in the bag to use occasionally. It's usable on a gig if you're willing to work a little harder to stay in pitch. Vandoren Blue Box 2.5 in the video; a 2 also works; a 3 is too much work! ... show more

  • Great for the price, not for beginners
Size: TENOR #7
Honestly, this mouthpiece plays like a dream for the price. Don't get it unless you already know what you're doing though. I think a good market for this piece would be mainly adults in a gigging environment. Let me repeat, IF YOU ARE A STUDENT/PARENT, DO NOT BUY THIS. This isn't a mouthpiece for somebody with an underdeveloped embouchure. Tone is great, nice and bright, very cutting and very loud. With a more gentle hand, it plays very smoky and sweet. The reason I'm knocking a star off is that the reed cap is terrible. It's made of what appears to be rough cut, stamped sheet metal. The first time I put it on, it left a huge scratch right down the side of the mouthpiece. It's sharp enough to cut yourself on too. This would've been much better with a simple cylinder type cap. ... show more

Size: TENOR #7
the very first notes i played on this mouthpiece made me think and say " wow " i like it . i have a cheap tenor sax and was using a cheap mouthpiece , and it played ok , i took a chance and ordered one of these . my tenor plays so much better now . all the notes are easy to play now ... highs and lows . i just now ordered one for my alto sax , the big name brand metal mouthpieces are $300 to $500 , i am so glad that i didn't fall for the more expensive " more better " idea . these are really good mouthpieces and very good " tone " ... show more

  • Incredible Mouthpiece!
Size: SOPRANO #6
I am a saxophonist who has played in a professional big band for years, still playing in various jazz combos and this mouthpiece immediately made a HUGE difference in my sound. I am not a gearhead, I have played Meyer 7 rubber mouthpieces for nearly 30 years, including on my soprano. I liked the sound, it was warm but always felt a bit muted. This Paititi mouthpiece immediately made my tone more focused, and while it is certainly brighter it has not lost the warmth I prefer as a jazz player. This is actually my first metal mouthpiece, and right out of the box it played great. My horn is an old Conn (1923 vintage) and my repairman (Steve Collins of Collins Hornworks) did a great job on the overhaul. I was having intonation problems due to me, not the horn. Playing the Paititi immediately solved these intonation problems. I admit I haven't tried many different mouthpieces on my soprano, but this one was such a pleasant surprise! Thanks Paititi, and thanks to several other positive reviews, my wife and son picked this one out for my Christmas gift. You won't be disappointed! ... show more
