We have an old 16’ wooden heavy garage door from the 80’s and already had the springs replaced professionally some years ago. This time I chose to do it myself and bought these springs which were the next thicker wire size and a longer spring. These look like better quality springs than what I’m replacing and we paid a pretty penny for those things years ago. The cones actually look identical as the old ones. The price was good and they arrived on time just as promised. Very happy about that. There is some valuable information online regarding spring selections and also some helpful videos on YouTube that walked me through this process. If you are mechanically inclined, you can do this if you use caution. I budgeted the afternoon and had all the tools laid out ahead of time. The instruction sheet was more informative than I expected and the winding rods fit well and have a nice non-slip rubber handle which was handy. Unwinding the remaining old spring was the biggest challenge for me as one of the previous installers was a hack and overtightened the set screws which distorted my main tube preventing the old cone from rotating as it should during the unwinding process. Patience won out and the rest of the disassembly went well. Have some big vice grips handy for the main bar to help keep the assembly locked in place once you get the cables back on their respective pulleys and slack out. Also had some big c clamp vice grips on the track just above the roller to keep the door closed until I’m ready for it to move. Before winding I used a white paint pen and a straight edge to draw a line along both springs and then had a helper to come verify and call out round counts as I wound them 90* at a time. Remember to position yourself to the side of the assembly and not facing it. 30 was my count target number for each spring and as it turned out I didn’t need to readjust at all. Took off the upper bar clamp and the c clamps and she was balanced close enough that my wife could easily raise and lower this beast of a door which she never could before. Hooked up the trolley on the opener and she worked smooth and quiet on the first try. I think the coating on the springs also help to make the door quiet and smooth. Very happy with them so far!

Crash! Boom! Bang! Disaster at your door... In your door actually. Garage door spring broke, can't open it without a workout level effort. What do you do now? Get these replacement springs and put them in of course. I used online calculator to go with a bigger springs mostly because they are in stock and ship quickly. So ordered these, got them couple days later and installed them on weekend. They are packaged well, no damage. Putting them in is fairly easy, just follow some video instructions and be careful as springs are dangerous. Instructions are also included if for some reason you don't like videos. Winding rods which came with the package work well, gloves are fine too. Overall, good price, quick shipping and works well. The size is also correct, door operates just like before with only a small force to lift it and stays in place if partly opened.

I had these springs installed about a month ago and so far they're performing as expected. I liked the fact that the rods needed for turning the springs were included in the package, as well as a pair of non-slip gloves. My original springs weren't both the same length, so I was worried about using two equal-length springs on my garage door. I ordered springs to match the length of the longer of the two original springs. We did have to adjust the number of turns--going from 30 turns down to 26 turns to balance the door's up and down movements. At 30 turns, the door wouldn't go all the way down. Once adjusted to 26 turns, it works perfectly. Your door may be different, so you may need to experiment with the number of turns.

I am so thankful for this product. It was very hard to find something that worked for my garage door to begin with due to its dimensions and needs. It's an oversized steel two-car garage door that easily weighs over 200 lbs. This product not only fit, but did the job. Honestly, it was frustrating for a while during the install, but after watching a few videos and rereading the directions multiple times, I figured it out. In all seriousness, the directions were helpful. Special note: They can be found online if you misplace them, as I did. Excellent product. Thank you.

Let me be upfront: replacing garage door torsion springs is genuinely dangerous work. That said, it's completely doable as a DIY job if you take your time, watch some tutorials, and don't cut corners. These springs made that process easier than I expected. They've been on my door for about a year now and have held up without any issues. The install went smoothly, and I was really glad these came with the winding bars included — that's not a given with every set, and good winding bars make a real difference both in safety and ease of installation. The ones included here were solid quality, not cheap throwaways. If you're a confident DIYer and you've done your homework on the process, this is a great kit. Everything you need is in the box.
