We pulled lake water that had a lot of duckweed in it. followed directions. Afterward, the majority of the duckweed was still floating on the top. We did this test several times, in different ways, thinking maybe we didn't mix it well enough. But it didn't matter, no matter how well you mix and shake it the things that float on the top of the water do not do well with this s chemical reaction. Even when we captured water in a bottle and attempted to have nothing that floated on the top, those couple (literally 2-3 tiny things) were still floating after mixing and letting sit. There are directions on the packet that if things are still floating not to drink it. The water had a very chemical taste to it. Not a deal breaker. I still see the value of this product. But I also see the flaws, which is why we teach our students other ways of filtering and purifying water. I have no doubt if you could capture the water from a moving source or clearer water it would have functioned more efficiently. It also had no problems capturing the dirt and mud, no matter how much we put in it. It was just the surface floaters that it struggled with when we tested it.

I made a mud puddle and got the water which was impossible to drink. After using these simple tablets, and following the instructions, I was amazed that the water was clear and drinkable! No funky taste or odor! I was dumbfounded, these should be in every ones home for emergencies!

River water is becoming safe to drink, which is a very good thing. In addition, they are lightweight and do not take up much space. This product can be trusted.
