Our old 7 pin connector went bad on a dump trailer. There was no salvaging it, so I bought this replacement. I had to cut the original one off. I stripped the wires and the insulation. This one was easy to attach to the wires. I applied thread lock to the screws. The assembly seems totally waterproof when fully assembled.

I purchased a trailer kit from another seller on Amazon and realized after the return date had expired that it was not a standard seven-pin plug and would not fit my vehicle. I purchased this adapter and cut the original plug off of the wiring harness. This plug is wired in very easily and includes adapters to keep water out of the inside of the plug. It is a very hard plastic material but appears it will last for many, many years!

The 7-way plug is well made. The outer shell feels solid. The waterproof gland seals tightly around the 3/4" cable. The internal piece with the terminals with screw down posts works well. The instructions are okay with a minor exception. Some of the words for the terminations are shifted down about half a line. I marked up my instructions to make it easier to read as I assembled the plug. Before cutting off the old plug I used an ohmmeter to determine the color code and layout of the wires. I attached marine-grade, ring terminals to the wires which simplified screwing down the wires. When I tested the cable, a couple wires were swapped. The ring terminations may it easy to correct the swap. I then coated the terminations with dielectric grease to reduce corrosion. I liked the plug well enough that I ordered a second one. I'll keep it in the trailer so that if the current plug gets damaged while I'm on the road, I can easily swap out the damaged plug.

Watertight seal works really well. It’s labeled for wire colors on inside of plug making for easy install.

I was so excited to get this plug because of the wire crimp design. But when I plugged it into a 7 way female connector and went to remove it that male 7 way plug broke and the internals stayed in the female end. It broke right where the set screw was and before that part broke it tried to pull out the bottom. I was not being rough with it at all. I was really hoping it worked good. Other than that it looks like a very quality plug.

I really like the gasket around the cable which has prevented water intrusion to the connectors. I did add ring terminals to the trailer harness cable. It is a nice snug fit into the truck receptacle.
