The method they chose was 3d printing with thermoplastics (for example: OVERTURE White PLA Filament). The entire structure was put together with 50 3d printed connections (nodes) with 254 plywood members that spanned between each node. In total they used about 6 different printers, 13,354 grams of filament were used and there was a total of 1,501 hours of printing. The entire pavilion gets bolted together in about 2 days and then a string element gets woven through the pavilion. The pavilion was designed to be walked through, drawing you in through expansion and contraction. As you enter you are greeted by this big vast opening which then shrinks around you when walking to the center, then when exiting you are drawn out again through the end opening up again. Another element that played a key part was the string. When standing in the center of the pavilion you are not only at the smallest part of the pavilion but the string element is woven in such a way that its almost like its spinning around you. • great value, function, form
Color: 1kg Black Size: 1KG
Been running this OVERTURE black PLA through my Ender for a couple weeks now and honestly, it's been cruisin smooth. First off, it feeds like butter. No jams, no weird tangles, none of that headache mess that can pop up with cheaper filament. I just loaded it up and forgot about it. Which is kind of the dream right? The print quality is real decent too. Layers go down nice and even, like pancakes if you got a steady hand. I been making some functional stuff like tool holders and a couple decorative bits just to test it, and the surface finish came out clean. Not super glossy but not chalky either, just that nice in between look that doesn't scream “homemade” in a bad way. Color's solid too. It’s not that washed out gray black some spools give you. This one’s a true black, deep and consistent all the way through. Doesn’t fade out halfway through a print like I’ve had with other rolls. Definitely passes the eyeball test. Cardboard spool’s kinda whatever to me. Some folks get all excited about the eco friendly angle but I just care if it spins right and it does, so no complaints there. One tiny thing, it does like a little extra first layer squish. If you're used to fuss-free filaments, just keep that in mind. Once I dialed the z-offset in a touch lower, it stuck like a dream. Honestly, for a basic filament it punches above its weight. Great for everyday prints, prototypes, even some cosplay parts if you're painting after. If you're not trying to get all experimental with fancy materials and just want something reliable that won't drive you nuts, this is the one. ... show more

  • Best bang for your buck PLA
Color: 1kg Black Size: 1KG
Overture isn’t the highest quality pla out there for your 3d printer, but I’ve never had issues with their filament. It doesn’t clog, looks very uniform, and very flexible. It’s a solid option over the more expensive stuff out there to purchase.

  • Good stuff
Color: 1kg Black Size: 1KG
Update: I have now used several overtire filament products and have decided that the issues I had with this particular product were likely due to my own improper handling of the filament when loading my printer or just a rare case of poorly spoiled filament. In either case all of the other filaments I have gotten from Overture have been top notch. It has been consistent and high quality. I have been moving away from PLA in favor of petg and I have to say their petg filament is where it’s at. I am changing my review to five stars after finishing the spool and also using several other overtire products. If you are looking for some great quality filament don’t hesitate to try this. When I first opened the package the filament seemed a little messy compared to other brands I had tried up to that point. It didn’t seem to be ranged just a little weird. At first it printed great and consistently. However it eventually started to catch on itself and after pausing the print to check it out I didn’t see any apparent tangles so I continued on. About 30min later it caught again and caused a rather large print to fail. I didn’t notice until it made a noise when the extruded snapped the filament in two. I thought I had fixed it when it happened AGAIN later that night with another large print(stupid me I should have changed rolls). Anyway, I rewound the entire thing myself and haven’t had an issue since. All in all, I am disappointed in the performance of this roll and how poorly it was wound. However, I am having great success with overtures petg. I’m giving it 4 stars for now. If I grab another roll from them with better results I’ll do a new review. ... show more

  • Good filament all around! No need to buy other name brand expensive filaments
Color: 1kg Black Size: 1KG
It's good filament. It extrudes nice and clean. Inter-layer bonding is good. Surface finish is a little on the glossy side but not bad. It just lays down NICE. Its well behaved. I bought the basic black and its a nice black, not thin and weak like other filaments. No need to buy Hatchbox or Atomic, this is just as good if not better behaved just WAY less expensive. Don't be fooled that its a non-name budget filament- its better than that! No worries about mystery brand, this is good stuff. Initially I bought it on a recommendation of a friend who tried it and liked it. I wanted to use as a cheap prototype and test print filament, but its so nice and well behaved I use it for tester AND final prints. Use KISS slicer to print temp tuning and destring wizards to dial in your temps and retracts. I found that this prints better on the lower end of the temp range 195C-200C , 4.5mm retract for my 650mm bowden. I have not tried the build surface yet, I will and update my review. It seems like it will work well. The spool itself is nice. I like the windows on the side for filament remaining. I wish that there was some more reference data on the label- like filament density and conversion numbers for things like cm^3/m, g/m and the like. It seems like when you need a number like that you can not find it. I REALLY like the paper ruler too, its actually pretty handy. Data might be nice there too. The box it comes in is one of the clam-shell types. I use it for part and component storage when its empty too. I wish that they consider the box reuse after printing for stuff like that. I like that it does not have a window that I have to tape up. The multi-packs are next on my list. I hope that they can keep a consistent quality and price point, maybe add a few more colors. EDIT: I got another roll delivered today and thought to update my review with some unboxing pictures. I omitted in my initial review a compliment about the roll packaging. The roll comes vacuum sealed in a reusable silver mylar bag. This is a REALLY nice feature as some of teh so called 'premium' filament vendors charge $2.50 per bag! the bag keeps out light and moisture better than plain poly bags usually used. You can see the printed cardstock ruler and the included build surface in the second photo. Like I said, I like the carboard box type: I reuse them for parts and roll storage. ... show more
