Mattress is very firm, left it alone in a room for 48 or more hours before letting my toddler on it, as this was going to be her first bed, ever. It only got up to about 4inches tall even though it's suppose to be 6inches. Won't bother returning it as it is still a cheap mattress for a twin XL, just be sure to buy a mattress pad for it if you actually want a medium-firm or softer bed.
