Took my dog on a rafting trip and it worked really well to help him swim without tiring when he wasn't in the boat. He didn't mind wearing it and it didn't restrict his motion. It's well-made, looks good and lasts! Dries quickly, doesn't smell weird.

I have an Olde English Bulldogge who sinks like a rock. She does good to tread water at all. Because of this the water is not her friend which is a problem since she goes fishing with me on the boat and I take her to the beach. She has a deep chest and a narrow waist and I stuck to the size chart which said the size she needed could support up to a 70lb dog. That made me nervous because she is around 65-70 lbs. I took the chance and we hit the lake today. Like others said the straps have plenty of room to adjust and I was able to get a good snug fit without a problem. Then before getting in the water I used the lift straps to make sure all would hold. The jacket did great and feels very sturdy and well made letting me lift her with ease. Next we got in the water and to my amazement she started swimming all around the boat. It completely supports her and allows her to float with no effort on hr part. For the price this is an outstanding product that gives me piece of mind that she is safe on the water plus I can now let her cool off in deeper water and lift her back into the boat without hurting her or me. As for her wearing it. She doesnt seem to mind at all and almost seemed to enjoy it. She didnt chew or bite at any part of it and it did not rub or irritate her in any area. She had it on today from 6am to 330pm and showed no signs of being bothered by it. She also did not get hot in it and it actually keep her cool since it stayed nice and damp from being in the water. She has full movement and seemed nice and comfy laying around as I was fishing. Also it is a good color and if she was to fall in it is very high visibility to make a rescue easy. Dont hesitate. This product is well worth the money and more. Update(10-17-14)- Today I went fishing and while on my bass boat my trolling motor took a break. While working on getting it fixed my bulldog went to the back of the boat and got a drink from the lake. While Im sitting with bits and pieces of trolling motor on the front deck I heard a big splash. I look up to see my dog was gone. She is not a ballerina and slipped in to the lake with her clumsy self. Luckily she had on her vest and very calmly bobbed in the water for a second and then began to swim around. I let her take a couple laps around the boat while I got the trolling motor bits safe and then lifted her back on board by the vest straps. If I did not have this vest today I bet I would have had a big mess by needing to move quickly to save my rock of a dog. Also I thought that if she was to get to far from the boat and the fact my trolling motor was down I would have had to either use the main motor to snag her, which would not be very safe, or get wet myself to get her. I am very glad I bought this vest and today it certainly paid for itself. She has used it many times now on the lake and pool. It still looks new and is holding up extremely well. She has yet to protest wearing it and really seems to be confident around the water now. ... show more

These life vests have been great. We fish frequently with our dogs and one of them loves to jump off the boat and chase birds. The life vests give us peace of mind if they ever get a little too far and are highly visible. Our dogs love putting them on since they know they are going on an adventure. Fit is true to size. We measured our dogs just in case before purchasing and they fit perfect. We have bought these vests a few times since they worked out so well. The vests are of good quality and are durable. I appreciate the adjustable straps since they make a comfortable fit for the dogs and the top strap is essential to grab the dogs back into the boat. I highly recommend! ... show more

I have an American bulldog: 110 lbs., 36" chest, a year and a half old. The XL vest fits him very well AND keeps him afloat. The poor guy is compact, and he just sinks better than he swims. We bought this jacket last summer when, after several aided attempts, we realized the only thing we were accomplishing was to make him terrified of the water. The life vest works great and as long as he's wearing it, he doesn't mind getting in the pool. Pros: 1. Great for heavy, large breed dogs 2. Works great if your pet needs more than just a little extra assurance (my guy would drown without it!) Cons: 1. The chest clips are weak and prone to unsnap - however, the Velcro is very strong and held up regardless 2. The top grab handle ripped - it held up fine last summer, but I had to grab it this year and it ripped. If he needed to be rescued, this would cause an issue but for normal use and/or control assistance, it works as intended. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the snaps and stitching for the top handle. When the top handle ripped, I searched other for other vests and found one that I thought looked more durable. I tried it this afternoon & it barely fit (even though I measured and went off of their specs) and it didn't support his weight (his back end sunk).
