    • Did Great Protecting my Tent

I was heading out to Cataloochee in the Smoky Mountains and I was looking for a tarp to lay beneath my very expensive backpacking tent. I prefer to use a small tarp when using my tent at campsite - even primitive ones like Cataloochee seem to have quite a few sharp rocks embedded in their tent pads. Seeing as my camping and hiking equipment are a significant investment for me, I like to protect that investment. But tarps in my area have gotten inexplicably expensive - to the tune of $15 plus! So I hopped on Amazon and found this little gem! I wasn't looking for anything fancy or super heavy duty. I just needed something that would add a reasonably tough base for my tent to rest on. I learned the hard way that those rocks so often found in tent pads aren't just uncomfortable, but can tear into tent fabric. When I replaced my tent, I used it as an excuse to trade up and bought my very first super fancy, ultra lightweight backpacking tent. Naturally, I don't want to ruin the tent that has shaved significant weight off my backcountry pack! At less than $5, this tarp is an absolute bargain and perfect for what I was looking for. I wasn't looking for hardcore water protection, but after almost 24 hours of solid bone chilling rain, our tent was dry. We were, quite literally, happy campers! The one issue I can think of is that the weave is definitely on the looser side. This would probably pose a problem for those looking for something to hang above the campsite. While I did not use it for that, I can say that I never would. After seeing it and using during that camping trip, I am just not certain it would hold up to extreme stretching and would likely tear upon tightening. I could be wrong, but I'd much prefer the more heavy duty tarps for that. With that said, the grommets are solid and the tarp is generally well built - aside from the lighter weave. It does have a stiffer feel compared to the pricier tarps, but that didn't affect my usage at all. In fact, I think it helped! Overall, this tarp is a total bargain! I highly recommend it as a basic, general purpose tarp. But if you need something for more intensive purposes, I recommend looking for a heavier duty tarp. I FINALLY HAD THE CHANCE TO COVER UP SOME PATIO TABLES FOR WINTER & WAS SHOCKED TO FIND ONLY 1 WHEN I ORDERED 2 TARPS! PLUS, IT WAS 6X8 NOT 8X10 BUT, DEALING WITH COVID I NEVER CHECKED MY ORDER WHEN IT ARRIVED PILED IT WITH REST OF BOXES FOR USE WHEN OVER ILLNESS THUS, MISSING *RETURN* WINDOW! We’re using this as a puppy pen floor protector and it has honestly been a lifesaver! Best $6 we’ve spent so far with all the new dog items we’ve have to buy. The puppies try to dig in it and eat the grommets but this thing has held up like a champ and more importantly, our nice wood floors are protected from accidents while we work on potty training. ... show more

    • Lightweight! Easy to handle!

We used this tarp to put over our expensive gazebo tarp. Ok sounds redundant but it works. This is very lightweight and was easy for my husband to get it over our 10 x 10 pop up gazebo. We have 3 of the expensive gazebo tops int he past because of sun. And the one we current have we have taped with tent tape. So to try and make it last we put this tarp over it. Used plastic ties to secure it and it works fantastic. For the pop up gazebo we cannot buy a new "top" (future ones will make sure we go with a company that allows you to buy new tops but this one does not) so we want to try and make it last. As I said we taped a few rips and put this over it and it is holding strong. Very pleased. The only reason for the 4 stars is because it does not come in the size we needed and make sure you read the size carefully. Because it will give you 2 sizes. The size BEFORE then sewed the seam and the size after. The size AFTER is not as prominent as the before size. This could make a big difference to you. You do not want this if you are looking for a heavy duty tarp. This is a great one for what we needed it for. ... show more

I bought it to put under the swimming pool I bought for my puppy as a little extra precaution against punctures. It's perfect for that really. As it happens, I'm doubly glad I put it down. It helped me to notice that the pool was leaking after I filled it for the first time. It's $5.00. You're not going to get a thick, heavy duty tarp for that money and I didn't expect to.
