Available in three sizes, this reusable tarp is constructed with woven nylon with an 8 x 8 square inch cross weave count that's coated with high density polyethylene (PE) for added strength. It also features rust-proof aluminum grommets every 3 feet and on each corner for a secure tie down and hold. All four edges are heat-sealed and reinforced with PE rope in the seams. If you just need an emergency tarp for temporary rain coverage, or a one time use tarp (cover a truck bed for a move or something), its fine. But this tarp is really thin, and not very durable. After the last camping trip where I used it as a tent footprint, the tarp stayed behind in the dumpster. Seems like some water came up through it, though I'm not 100% sure on that one. Anywhere that was stepped on resulted in the blue layer peeling off. I even found it pierced by a pine needle as I was picking it up. As long as you know what you are getting, no hard feelings. After all, it did serve its purpose by existing in the truck when we forgot the better, thicker tarp at home. Pros: - Cheap (cost) Cons: - Cheap (quality) ... show more

It's your typical tarp; I purchased it to protect the underbelly of my tent which has worked well, but the real reason for writing this review is the hope that the picture I uploaded of the packaging gets posted showing this tarp has a finished size of 5' 6" x 7' 6" and has 8 aluminum eyelet grommets spaced throughout the edge of the tarp. ... show more

This is a thin (about 4 mil thick) polyethylene tarp NOT urethane-coated nylon as stated in the description. [UPDATE: Oct 22, 2015, the incorrect "urethane-coated nylon" designation has been removed from the product description.] It is a decent quality tarp for what it is. Seems a bit more flexible and may be quieter than a typical blue tarp. I purchased the 6' x 8' version. Rolled up dimensions are 16 inches long and 2 3/8 inches in diameter. The weight checks out at 9.5 ounces. It has 8 aluminum grommets. It would probably work out OK for a back-packer on a budget. Will probably not hold up to the sun for extended periods since it is thin and not UV resistant. ... show more

I bought it to put under the swimming pool I bought for my puppy as a little extra precaution against punctures. It's perfect for that really. As it happens, I'm doubly glad I put it down. It helped me to notice that the pool was leaking after I filled it for the first time. It's $5.00. You're not going to get a thick, heavy duty tarp for that money and I didn't expect to.     • Did Great Protecting my Tent

I was heading out to Cataloochee in the Smoky Mountains and I was looking for a tarp to lay beneath my very expensive backpacking tent. I prefer to use a small tarp when using my tent at campsite - even primitive ones like Cataloochee seem to have quite a few sharp rocks embedded in their tent pads. Seeing as my camping and hiking equipment are a significant investment for me, I like to protect that investment. But tarps in my area have gotten inexplicably expensive - to the tune of $15 plus! So I hopped on Amazon and found this little gem! I wasn't looking for anything fancy or super heavy duty. I just needed something that would add a reasonably tough base for my tent to rest on. I learned the hard way that those rocks so often found in tent pads aren't just uncomfortable, but can tear into tent fabric. When I replaced my tent, I used it as an excuse to trade up and bought my very first super fancy, ultra lightweight backpacking tent. Naturally, I don't want to ruin the tent that has shaved significant weight off my backcountry pack! At less than $5, this tarp is an absolute bargain and perfect for what I was looking for. I wasn't looking for hardcore water protection, but after almost 24 hours of solid bone chilling rain, our tent was dry. We were, quite literally, happy campers! The one issue I can think of is that the weave is definitely on the looser side. This would probably pose a problem for those looking for something to hang above the campsite. While I did not use it for that, I can say that I never would. After seeing it and using during that camping trip, I am just not certain it would hold up to extreme stretching and would likely tear upon tightening. I could be wrong, but I'd much prefer the more heavy duty tarps for that. With that said, the grommets are solid and the tarp is generally well built - aside from the lighter weave. It does have a stiffer feel compared to the pricier tarps, but that didn't affect my usage at all. In fact, I think it helped! Overall, this tarp is a total bargain! I highly recommend it as a basic, general purpose tarp. But if you need something for more intensive purposes, I recommend looking for a heavier duty tarp. Cheap as crap. Don't use on any uneven surfaces or instant holes. Now, if you're just needing it to cover something or to sit on soft grass, fine. But, do not expect it to last more than one use if it's on a hard surface especially a rocky hard surface. I'm now going to have to replace this tarp and patch my brand new tent. ... show more

I knew what I was buying: One of the cheapest tarps out there. It won't be walked on or used in any way that subjects it to frequent potential tears. I'm using it as a shade/rain cover, pulled taut by paracord and ratchet straps. It flaps a little in the wind and I know I need to be a bit careful about the stresses it's subjected to. The material is obviously very thin, the edges not super strong, but so far it's held. I expect I might need to replace it if a severe storm comes along, but we'll see. :-) I did order a one with a slightly thicker material for the next bit of the project. ... show more

I FINALLY HAD THE CHANCE TO COVER UP SOME PATIO TABLES FOR WINTER & WAS SHOCKED TO FIND ONLY 1 WHEN I ORDERED 2 TARPS! PLUS, IT WAS 6X8 NOT 8X10 BUT, DEALING WITH COVID I NEVER CHECKED MY ORDER WHEN IT ARRIVED PILED IT WITH REST OF BOXES FOR USE WHEN OVER ILLNESS THUS, MISSING *RETURN* WINDOW!
