We got the 20 watt, stuck it in a box with an entryway in it and taped a garbage bag liner around the outside of the box to keep the wet out. We put the box on our porch with the entry facing east all winter for her, and she was very snug and warm, so even in below zero temps I never had to worry that kitty wasn't wam. My cat stays outside on my deck all year except for the coldest days. He has anxiety issues that are less when he’s outdoors. He also sprays & marks when he’s indoors & anxious. He has a nice insulated house & this heated mat & a beach towel keeps him cozy. He loves his little hide-away!

    • Keeps our feral cat warm!
We have a feral cat that arrives on my back porch twice a day for 4 or 5 months now for a hardy meal. When he first came to us he was skinny and in hunger pain. So I started feeding him the good stuff. I also dewormed him with medicine mixed with his food. Twice, 12 days apart as instructed. He is now a beautiful healthy looking feral cat. With winter coming, I built him an insulated outdoor cat house and bought this outdoor pet heating pad to put on the inside bottom of it. He loves it. He stays in it almost all night. (I have a camera aimed at my back porch so I can see his every move). When I show up to feed him in the morning (by coming out my back door), he runs out of the box and sits about 6 feet away from me while I put his food down. When I turn to go in the house, he runs over to his food and enjoys his meal. After that he goes back into his warm box for a while before heading out to wherever he goes during the day. (Last night is was 22 degrees out.) I recommend this wonderful safe lukewarm heating pad. ... show more

This is a great heating pad if you are ok with no control over the heat or timing of the heat. This is a plug and go product. The only way to cut it off is to unplug it. It has medium to low heat. If you have an older animal who needs the heat this won’t work. But if you are just getting a heating pad that will last as long as it’s plugged in and gives moderate heat this is fantastic for that. I have purchased at least 10 of these for feral cats that live outside in the shelters that I have built. However, four out of 10 has stopped working!
