Extremely nice case. I was wary buying an otterbox compared to the lifeproof case since smart phones are so expensive and that extra water protection sounded like a good idea. However, my previous lifeproof case has the top screen punch through after removing my phone (an easy ~$70 down the drain). After upgrading to a water resistant phone I thought I should attempt to explore the otterbox route. The defender fitted my outdoor lifestyle so I went for the most robust protection otterbox had to offer... and I’m not disappointed! First off I ordered the Big Sur (blue and off white). I am not a fan of the majority of color combos I saw in store of the defender but the Big Sur I found on amazon and Stormy Skies were exactly the colors I adore. The Big Sur is nice since the off white nearly matches the white of the front face of my silver iPhone 8+. I think if I had gone with a different color for the hard case in the Defender I’d be annoyed by the rim of the iPhone face showing under the Defender’s screen protector. Another aspect I did enjoy compared to my old lifeproof case is that with the lifeproof case it was nearly impossible to be heard. The defender has no issues with my sound when talking on the line. Only set back is that since the case is not completely sealed dust, debris, and animal hair can get underneath the case... which I don’t believe should be a concern for the majority of people. The amount I’ve found under the case is minimal and I work outside everyday doing hard dirty work - I’ve been very pleased thus far. There are comments about the Apple logo not being centered on the back - which is true! It is not centered. However, that’s seriously unconcerning for the practicality and the ruggedness of this case. Though, I’ve never shattered a phone, I’ve had them go swimming when I’ve been fishing (thus my water concerns), dropped on rocks when hiking, and have all out abused my phones every day while working outside in the field; honestly, I feel as though this defender really will hold up to my abnormally high level of abuse an outdoors woman such as myself inflicted on their devices. Color: PURPLE NEBULA (WINSOME ORCHID/NIGHT PURPLE)
Easy to install; keeps phone intact even though it falls a lot. Wasn't impressed with the extra plastic screen. Decreases some of the touch sensitivity. Cut it out; all is good. Perfect fit for the phone.

Have dropped my Apple phone several times with my Otter case-not a scratch on the phone and very little scratch even on the case. The only one I'll buy for sure!

    • Several drawbacks.
My previous otter box lasted 5 years and never failed me. This however, is a different animal. The screen protector that I loved on my prior phone is a nuisance and rides several millimeters off the screen, requiring firm key strokes. The power button takes about twice the effort of the volume buttons to press down, making one handed locking difficult. Worst drawback is the case covering the bottom of the screen. You can only swipe up from the thumbprint scanner and no where else, which can be frustrating. The fingerprint scanner is now much more recessed and difficult to get to, requiring me to press hard enough that I actually click the home button every time I sign in. My previous pelican case for my 8+ was effortless to use the scanner. Unless I can find a way to easily access the control panel, I’ll probably end up returning it. Lastly, I have had the case on for 8 hours, and there is already a ton of debris underneath the screen protector, entering through forward camera/speaker bay. Great fit and feel besides screen protector. Update: 5 months of use shows no wear. Lots of dust gets us through front speaker/camera port, requiring the case to disassembled and cleaned every week or so. Power button is still stiff, leverage is key. Patch over fingerprint scanner is starting to peel is one spot, though I have yet to have any sort of water incursion from splashes or spills. My dust issues arises from the thick tempered glass protector I have, which lifts the integrated screen protector off the glass making an arcing gap that allows dust in. Also adds quite a slapping sound to each keystroke. This is such a rugged case. I would recommend users to run their phone with no tempered glass protector, maybe a plastic film protector, and this case. That would be indestructible. ... show more

Just when I didn’t think I was going to find an Otterbox Defender case for my iPhone 8 Plus lo & behold I did find one!!! And I actually didn’t have to go with basic black. My husband has been on me for a couple of years to replace my original from 2017 but why fix what’s not broken, just scratched up? Well…I finally have now & I’m thrilled! I got purple/orchid which I love! Just as awesome was vendor getting to me so quickly!!! I elected to pay for express shipping but Amazon still said it wouldn’t deliver until February 27-28 but I received today in new, perfect condition-yippeee!!! Also, especially very reasonably priced considering it was about $25 for the real deal Otterbox vs. knockoffs for $15, thank you! Thank you! Now it looks like a brand new phone😁 ... show more
