I see people with broken screens all the time and I always ask myself why?! I've been using the Otterbox Commuter case for several years and I've dropped the phone hundreds and hundreds of times. I've never had a screen shatter on me a single time. Inside of the plastic case is a rubber like gasket that acts as an added layer of protection. This is instrumental in providing dual layer shock.
