I’ll be completely honest. I have used these two years in a row on a back woods canoe camping trip. We have never flipped or dropped our phones, so I have never tested if they are water proof or if they float. I will say based on the material that they would definitely float. The ceil also seems relatively good. I’m not brave enough to actually submerge my phone to test it, but I am confident enough in this product to not wrap my phone in sandwich bags to double protect it. That being said I wear it around my neck out there. It is typically fine while canoeing, although just the bulkiness can be slightly uncomfortable especially if it’s not tucked in my life jacket correctly. It definitely is uncomfortable to wear on the portages though. But any product would be when it has an item the weight of an iPhone in it. I definitely will never go on a camping trip that involves water without it again. It is a fantastic price, and when you’re in the middle of nowhere keeping your phone from getting wet if you flip in May in Minnesota could be life saving since the water is so cold. So it is definitely worth it for phone protection and also a really important survival tool. I use voiceover so the touchscreen through the case is hard because swiping doesn’t work overly well, but for sighted people I’m sure that would work fine since just touching it works for me. I just don’t have the speed through it for double tapping which is required for voiceover. There is also no real good way to wake your phone up. Mine has raise to wake off and the lock button on the side isn’t overly accessible without pulling the phone out. The best waterproof case I've found.

I keep my phone in this case when I sail my small sailboat and I it has a lot going for it. The clasp is secure and watertight. The plastic covering the screen is hard enough not to get cut when I'm rough with it, i.e. climbing in the boat and sandwiching it between me and the side. It's pretty easy to use, even when wet since the case is designed to keep the plastic just off the screen - not sure about underwater yet. I'm a fan of the strength of the plastic loop on the top of the case as well, while it looks thin in the amazon picture, it has some depth so it's pretty solid. Some cases have flimsy attachment points and I've had to swim for a phone before. It is not capable of recognizing my face (I use an iphone XR contained in a second slim case without a screen protect) but I've never had a waterproof case that did so it's a hard thing to complain about. As advertised it floats quite readily. Using the edges of the case to contain the foam makes the case more streamlined than some and also protects the phone. There's some bulk to it's unavoidable in a floating case. Last, the strap made of really tough material, I have a slight concern that if I caught it on something it might strangle me climbing back into the boat. I will probably add a plastic buckle on the loop for that reason. The plastic hook that connects it to the phone is not as robust but is pretty much what I wanted/expected. Good protection, but hard to use phone

I used the Pelican waterproof case to go snorkeling in the ocean and to go kayaking - both in the Florida summer heat. In the water, the waterproof pouch worked perfectly. No water leaked into the case and it floated with the phone inside. As other reviewers noted, underwater the touch screen doesn't work. i just programmed my phone camera to take a picture using the up volume button. That wasn't easy as the side of the case is padded and underwater it's hard to tell exactly where that little button is. I put my phone in the waterproof case while kayaking just in case I dropped it while trying to take pictures. It's hard to see the screen in sunlight to take pictures in the sunlight but I managed. I was also worried about quality of teh pictures through the plastic screen of the case, but that wasn't a problem either (see attached photo, taken with the case on). The problem comes with the summer sun shining on the plastic case. It heated up so much that my phone went into emergency mode b/c it overheated. So, while it's a good quality case and didn't leak underwater, the case can heat up quite a bit in sunlight and the touch screen is difficult (in sunlight) to impossible (in water) to use. ... show more

Excellent buy, excellent value! Ease of use: product is extremely easy to use. Camera window is easy to locate which makes this extremely easy to identify how to place your phone into the pouch. Waterproofing: product operates as advertised. My family and I used these pouches in a saltwater bay. They were brought into the water and used to record both in and out of the water, fully submerged at a snorkeling depth of 3 feet or less. Clarity: these pouches do not even appear to be on when taking photos and videos. The clarity is uncanny. Durability: the pouches lasted a full 8 hours of boating along with approximately 2 hours of water time. They do seem like they will last a considerable amount of time. Issues: forward camera is not accessible for facial recognition. Don’t expect to unlock or authorize electronic payment using facial recognition while your phone is in the case. Phone can still be unlocked using your alternative method. Additionally, the side button can be challenging to manipulate. This can pose an issue for those who use the side buttons to take photos or videos, to lock the phone, or for other uses. I do not consider this a problem as I bought these pouches for their waterproof and floating properties. In these categories, the pouches are excellent! Money well spent! ... show more
