This product does not indicate that it is refurbished. The product I received is clearly marked as refurbished. I would have preferred to have bought a brand new product. That said, the refurbished product I received seemed "like new". Nothing seemed wrong with it at all and it was in new packaging. The Otterbox Defender case itself is a stand out product. I can't imagine a more durable or protective case for the iPad. The front and back are equally protected by rigid plastic. The front "shield" snaps firmly in place. When you remove the front part to use the iPad, this front part is a really good stand! It lets you position in the iPad in at least 4 ways; perhaps 5 depending on how you count. I find this "shield stand" to be incredibly useful. Much more so than you might think. This case is so strong that I have no problem throwing the iPad and case into a backpack, luggage, etc. I'm confident the iPad won't be damaged. I don't think I would check this in airline luggage. I'm not sure that's allowed anyway because of the battery. But still, it's a very durable and strong case. Highly recommended. (Minus one star overall because it was a refurbished product that did not indicate that in the listing.) ... show more
