I got these bottles for fermenting my own ginger beer at home. The bottles arrived all in one piece, no chips or cracks in the glass, which is always a fear of mine when buying glass online. The swing lock mechanism has very little slop in it so it is easy to use and doesn't feel weak of flimsy. The seal is great, no problems with leaks at all. They even provide extra rubber grommets if any get damaged or worn out. They looks great and have worked well for me so far and definitely have a durable feel to them. As for cleaning, the mouth is narrower than the body, you know, like a bottle. So they aren't the easiest to clean but that's at no fault of the product. Using the right tools or methods make cleaning a breeze, just don't expect to be able to get your hand in there. If I start making bigger batches or more things, I will definitely be getting more of these specific bottles. ... show more

After traveling to Italy and shipping a ton of olive oil back home, I decided to share some of the oil with family and friends. I wanted a nice bottle that could be easily reused, and this was perfect! I love that this product included labels for the bottle, too.

(Update: I discovered that if you're having trouble opening the top by trying to pry up the "lever", pressing forward on the two hinge points instead makes it much, much easier. This may help those who have found it difficult to open the bottles.) I only write reviews when something stands out as particularly good, or if there's a shortcoming that I think people should know about before deciding on something. This is one where, happily, the product exceeds expectations. The bottles themselves are very nice. I love the slightly uneven thickness of the glass, which lends a rustic hand-blown vibe. If you're looking for elegant crystal-like bottles, these are not it. The glass is sturdy and thick, which gives me confidence they won't burst under fermentation. The size and shape are perfect. They feel great in the hand even thought they hold a full pint. I haven't tested the lids yet but they look as though they work just like the classic Grolsch tops. I think they'll be fine. They came perfectly packaged in a segmented box with each bottle in a bubble wrap sleeve. The extra goodies such as the labels, marker pen, extra seals, funnel, and bottle brush are very nice touches. I'm super happy with this purchase. If the bottles turn out to have some flaw when I put them to use I'll update this review. I don't expect that to happen though. ... show more

One of the bottles was missing a cap. It was impossible to reach Otis Classic. Amazon likes you to contact the manufacturer which was impossible. The only solution was to send it all back and have all 6 bottles replaced. I had already unpacked them and was washing them as I unpacked when I noticed the problem. I think an easier fix would have been for them to replace the one bottle, but there was no way to do that. ... show more
