  • Wonderful chair!
Color: Black
This Osaki 3D Champ 2 chair is amazing! I have never abused drugs but I think I understand addicts better now. I had the thought, immersed in this chair for over an hour, that sleep and food were irrelevant! I’ll just stay in the chair thanks.! Variety of automatic programs. Most of them named curiously to me as they are just components of the chair arranged in different order. For instance the “gentle” program still includes some deep tissue massage, just less. If you have someone tender, they will have to be happy with the roller or taping/knocking manual settings. There are also single settings for foot rollers and air compression programs. I wish there was a 4d ability to allow lessening of the kneading or shiatsu massages. But that is all irrelevant to me. I love it. I have used the chair for a week and my back pain is clearly better. I have slept longer and deeper. I was concerned the programs did not really do a zero gravity position but there is a manual setting for that. You can always add heat to any program. You can add horizontal positioning, even elevate the legs above the body. I can see that a few thousand dollars more might add some nuanced settings, but for me this chair is the sweet spot. Lots of options, zero gravity, heat, quality construction, great size and weight we easily moved through a regular exterior door. Limited assembly (one step to easily attach leg-foot section). One caveat: I have not tried speakers yet. If they suck , I’ll amend review. In conclusion, I obsessed over about 2 dozen options for hours. This chair was my call based on features, reviews and warranty. I also trust Amazon to stand behind products. I highly recommend this Osaki chair. ... show more

  • Does the job - with some quirks
Color: Taupe
This is our first massage chair- we’ve had it about a month and it sees regular use. The chair looks great, materials feel high quality, craftsmanship is good. It looks/feels like a nice chair! The massage features of the chair work pretty well- with some annoyances. - First, misleading advertising, this chair does NOT work your hamstrings. The image in the description of the chair with the track highlighted/superimposed makes it look like the bottom portion of the L goes around your bottom and completely under your legs. The actual track stops WAY short of that- to the point that if I didn’t know it was an SL track, I wouldn’t think it was. I would not even say it works glutes, let alone coming close to touching hamstrings. If you scroll through other pictures in the description there is one that is a picture of the controller screen- check out the track image there on the screen in comparison. -The software is buggy. Sometimes when turning on the air massage one section of airbags won’t activate (even though the display says it is) - fixed by restarting the chair. When we use the power button on the screen to turn the chair off, the physical power light on the chair blinks all night as if there is an error. When we use the physical power button on the chair to power on/ofd, it doesn’t do that. Sometimes when using the zero gravity presets, the legs retract all the way instead of auto-sensing the right position- fixed by manually moving them back out again. When using Bluetooth, you have to manually disconnect every time- the Bluetooth connection stays active even after the chair is turned off. You can work around these, but it’s annoying to have such a nice looking chair (and decently expensive) with such poorly designed/tested software. - Auto massages sometimes are great and sometimes seem a little “dangerous”, for lack of a better word. It varies intensity automatically by moving the 3D Massage Rollers in and out- which is pretty nice until it goes from 0 to full-maximum-moon-blastoff right into your rear, suddenly and without warning. Not looking for that kind of chair Osaki, at least take me to dinner first. We are in our mid 30s and can just shift our weight and sit up off the chair a second until it calms down- but I’d worry about it hurting users that can’t do that. - The back heating is ok- doesn’t feel super even, nor is it super hot. The foot rollers are ok- nothing magical. The speakers are alright, definitely lacking any kind of dynamic range and clearly designed for light spa music or an audiobook. The airbags are nice, good pressure. Overall, I’d say we are satisfied but not impressed. We got this on sale for $2k, I’d be upset paying any more than that. It will get regularly used and we’ll get our money’s worth, but it’s definitely not perfect. ... show more

  • Love it!
Color: Black
Absolutely love it! The entire family has seemed to have found their favorite settings. I have a few different auto settings while some of the family prefer manual ones to hit that spot. The heat is nice but not overwhelming. My wife and I have both mentioned on separate occasions that it resolved a sore spot we didn’t realize we had (until we felt better). Looks like I only have a video of the first time user. As you can see my daughter was loving the massage along with her tunes playing through the chair. My only gripe is about the Bluetooth functionality but not enough to take away any stars. It stays connected even after you shut off the chair. Might be other solutions but has not bugged me enough to look into it. I just “forget” the connection on my phone when I no longer want to use it. Super easy control panel along with extra settings on the armrest. Those that like manual settings will appreciate the intensity adjustment over there which allow for extra customization at the turn of a knob. Overall, love the chair which was a much better value than other ones we have used which did not provide any extra benefits for the additional cost. ... show more

  • Loud knocking noise and automatically shuts down
Color: Brown
Purchased this chair about 10 months ago, we use it daily and it has been fantastic for my disabled husband...up until a couple of days ago when it started making a loud knocking noise while it is first reclining. Sometimes it will fully recline and other times it locks up during the recline and won't even start the message cycle. It has also started the knocking noise in the middle of the message cycle a couple of times and then just shutdown. I've read a few reviews saying the support is non-existent. I opened a support ticket and will update the review if the company answers and does something about it. It is still within its one-year full parts and labor warranty so we will see... ... show more

  • Great chair and intense massages.
Color: Black
This is the first massage chair I have ever owned. Build quality seems strong. Chair fit easily through my door. It comes already built! No wrenching or crazy picture-box instructions. I am middle-aged with a sedentary stressful job. This chair is improving my quality of life, particularly how quick I recover from long work days. Wife and even my 11 year old loves it. I recommend nature sounds and eye covers. The auto massages are really intense, sometimes too intense. I’ve been told it takes a few weeks to get used to it. After day one I felt a little bruised but not too bad. I wish there were a way to reduce their intensity, other than going into full manual mode. They need to improve the software and educate users on how best to use and customize. ... show more

  • 3-week evaluation of Osaka Champ II
Color: Taupe
I received my new Osaka Champ II three weeks ago. I was surprised that there was no unpack/setup instructions - that turned out to be unneeded because there was nothing to connect except the power cord and the video control screen. But first I went to YouTube and found lots of 10-step setup instructions but none for this model - a simple note with the chair would have saved lots of time and worry. I got a furniture movers dolly and the 170-lb chair easily went thru 33.5” doorways and down the 43” hall, which is a huge plus. At your desired location, draw out a 23”x74” floorspace, as that is what it will take when fully extended! Evaluation: I give it only 3 out of 5 stars as there are several major shortages: 1. I used a relative’s machine 3 years ago and assumed that all later model machines would vibrate. But this one has NO vibration - yes, the rollers work on the back and around the butt, but there is no light vibration over the entire chair like you get at the fingernail shop. My solution is to go manual to a position I like and then control foot rollers and airbags separately. 2. NO memory - every time you start the machine, it says “lean fully back while body scan is taken”. There is no way to save this scan, so it has to repeat every time. I just go manual. However, most settings can be changed only in Automatic mode! So I select an auto program, then in settings pick recline #1 and legs extend, then go standby/manual when they reach my desired angle. To change anything requires going back into auto, make the change and then manual to stop the program from doing things I don’t want. 3. Be sure to experiment with every automatic program! Most are too rough for my 81 year old male body, so I go into manual to escape their clutches. 4. Be prepared to go manual to stop any auto program that is too strong lest you get bruised or sore. All comments say it will take several weeks to get used to the intensity without soreness. I am not claustrophobic, but I won’t put both arms in the airbag rests at the same time for fear of not being able stop the machine when it gets uncomfortable. 5. I called Osaka and they recommended an extra seat pad for my sore lumbar and butt. Not much help otherwise. 6. There is a dial control on the right armrest, but no idea what it does: no effect on speaker volume, speeds, etc. Just like the on/off button, it does turn the machine on/off if you hold it for >3 seconds. 7. When shutting down, it may take 45 seconds for the back to come up and the legs go down to their parked positions. Overall, the machine is good value for money, but a few more dollars would have easily added stars to my evaluation. The company suggested they don’t sell parts and there is no way they know to add a vibration motor to the frame, or to add body scan memory for subsequent sessions. If at all possible take a trip to a showroom with your own wishlist so you don’t buy unseen or untested as I did. The Massage Chair Store (in NH?) gives an excellent 16-page manual on how to buy a chair. Be sure to ask how much it costs to repackage and return a chair that turns out to be unacceptable. Save your packaging until you are sure you want to keep the machine. I used the entire garage for the unpack. ... show more

  • Solid choice so far
Color: Taupe
This is a 4.5-star review, based on a few weeks' experience so far after purchase. Chair is great looking and very comfortable, and has many modes and features to try. We got the white glove delivery, which was helpful as the chair is large and the delivery folks positioned the chair as we desired in doors. We also got the 3y extended warranty. The only negatives: The "gentle" mode is quite aggressive and deep. If you want a gentler massage, we found the "recovery" and "night care" modes useful. Also, when the machine starts a session, sometimes there are clacking sounds, but otherwise resolves itself. We will update the review to be more positive or negative, as we have more experience with the chair. But so far, we recommend the product. We also trial-tested similar Osaki chairs at their local branch store, before buying this one . ... show more
