My husband installed it himself. He placed a 2x8 between two ladders which allowed him to get the wiring done. The rectangular plate/mounting bracket is strong enough and you do not need additional meal to reinforce this plate as one reviewer mentioned. That person did not have molleys or screws on the four corner holes. First, mark the 4 holes on mounting bracket. Install molleys then screw in bracket with strong screws which fit in those 4 molleys. We have a shorter ceiling so we only needed to trim the electric cable with a little extra. The instructions tell you to then screw in canopy. I was worried about the adjutment of the cables but the wire cables miraculously fit in the canopy, you just push up on the outside of the mini round bracket which springs up to feed the cable in and once you let go of pushing up that locks the cable in place and you can push up on that part if you decide you fed too much cable and want it longer. I then held up the chandelier while my husband fed the access cable, then we placed a level on the short side and long to make sure the light was level and straight. It took me maybe two to three hours attaching the crystals the first day; I stopped then resumed the following day for an hour. Its a nice light. I found a six pack of 15w lights on Amazon. Package said bulbs were a free gift but there were no bulbs in the box. I think the E12 fits. We have the 51" fixture over a glass 79" table and that size is not too big. In the box the light looked overwhelmingly huge but set your fear aside. You can do it. You might consider getting your electrician to install the light minus the crystals if you'd like to save if the electrician is charging an hourly fee as that part is the most time consuming. I wore two white gloves placing the crystals; they snagged on the hooks but I got through it. ... show more

Got it from a gift L43.3 for my dining room. It's a good chandelier and make the room better than a old light before. Crystal is ok for low cost but of course not as good as stuff from Swoloskeys'. it is easy to install. Hanging all Crystal took some time and needed patience. There are some spare crystals and hooks, screws in case broke or missing. Keep them incase. Reason for 4 starts is because the mount plate is a little soft. After hung everything, which is about 40lbs, the canopy dropped about 0.8in so there is a visible gap from top. Had to undo it and added 2 2mm metal plate found in my grarge to reinforce the mount plate. now it looks perfect fit. Not a big deal but needs to be addressed for looking and safety. ... show more

Couldn't be happier. The crystal pieces do take some time to assemble, but once it's put together, the finished chandelier is perfect. The measurement provided are accurate.
