Picked this up a few weeks ago and it’s been solid. Folds out, plugs in, and you’re ready to go. No setup or tools needed. Literally click it into place and start creating. I was engraving within 10 minutes. It’s compact, quiet, and easy to store. Doesn’t take over the whole workbench, which I appreciate. Looks clean and sleek. It is 9.5"x8.75"x9.5" or 24x22.5x21.5cm. The 5W laser cuts 3mm plywood in one pass with no problems. Engraving is sharp and fast. I’ve used it for wood, leather, and even tried QR codes just for fun. Works great with LightBurn. Just set it up as grbl. Safety features are great. Auto shutdown, lid stop, tilt detection. Everything all built-in. I do like that it has a USB key that makes it so it doesn’t run unless the USB is connected, which is a good safeguard if you’ve got kids around. There’s a quick guide printed right on the base, which is smart. Makes things simple. I had previously purchased the Ortur 1.3W IR module. With it installed i have a working area of 95mm for Y axis and 105mm for X axis. If you’re looking for a compact, powerful engraver that’s easy to use and doesn’t need a learning curve, this is a good pick. I'd buy it again. I think it is a great value for the price.

This is my third ORTUR laser engraver. My first two are 20 watt open models and they are still running as great as day one. I needed a smaller model to do smaller jobs that allow me to quickly reproduce projects as needed instead of batching. This model was easy to get going and started with and I was burning within 15 minutes. Very well build and sturdy construction. I was also very impressed with how it was packaged and shipped. Works great with my light burn software. I only have one recommendation. I wish the removable burn plate was marked for calibration with a grid. But I found it easy to make a work around. Highly recommend this for anyone looking to get into the laser engraver space or for someone like me who needs a good quality burner that gets the job done.

For the price you pay it's a remarkable little machine. But, I give it 4 stars simply because there is a lack of instruction for newbe's to xy coordinate engraving. I bought it because I wanted to use my smartphone to drive the unit but I never could connect. I am set up about 50 feet from the unit and thought that was the issue but I brought it in from my shop and set up right next to my wifi and still no luck. Like I said earlier, poor instructions. I brought my laptop out to the shop along with the unit and it works fine. I primarily work with soft wood like cypress and it did really well. I had to play with different speeds and diode strength to optimize the results. If there was a tutorial video or at least a easy to read booklet it would be helpful. The booklet provided is really a clumsy way to offer instructions where multiple languages stacked on top of one another for a novice user to understand. Don't forget you have to get software. There is a reason GRBL is free! I am using Lightburn and it works fine. But $99 for the software.
