I was looking for something to add custom flare to various woodworking projects I do. For the price this is a pretty good piece of kit! Note that the laser is rated at 5w (although the package itself says the laser requires 50w) so take everything with a grain of salt. Uses GRBL communication so there's no proprietary software lock in (unless you choose to use their mobile app which utilizes an onboard ESP32 chip to run GRBLs directly on the machine). Got it up and running in over 10 minutes without any fuss. It isn't mentioned anywhere in the materials but of course ventilation is a must! You're likely working in inorganic materials (even if you're engraving wood or leather) and the unit just sends everything out the back with a basic computer fan.

I absolutely loved this laser engraver for my projects. It is easy to use from both a mobile phone and a computer, and it doesn't take up much space. I have used it on wood and leather, and the results look sharp and well-defined. I like that it is portable and easy to store; it is an excellent choice, and I recommend it 100%.

This is my third ORTUR laser engraver. My first two are 20 watt open models and they are still running as great as day one. I needed a smaller model to do smaller jobs that allow me to quickly reproduce projects as needed instead of batching. This model was easy to get going and started with and I was burning within 15 minutes. Very well build and sturdy construction. I was also very impressed with how it was packaged and shipped. Works great with my light burn software. I only have one recommendation. I wish the removable burn plate was marked for calibration with a grid. But I found it easy to make a work around. Highly recommend this for anyone looking to get into the laser engraver space or for someone like me who needs a good quality burner that gets the job done.

The media could not be loaded. I always wanted to do custom leather wallets, coffee mugs as a small gifts for my friends, which is why my husband gifted me this engraving machine. It is very basic but still makes the job done. It looks sturdy and very compact in size what is a big plus for me. It was little bit hard for me to get it connected to my phone, but after reviewing video instructions on Amazon I was able to do it. It engraves very fast, I made a sample engraving in a widen plate they provided in 10 minutes just uploading picture from my phone. The only downside I noted it’s very hard to understand where exactly to place the item you want to make an engrave on, this metal plate has no scale or marking, so it took me several tries to figure it out. Otherwise this is a great beginner machine

For the price you pay it's a remarkable little machine. But, I give it 4 stars simply because there is a lack of instruction for newbe's to xy coordinate engraving. I bought it because I wanted to use my smartphone to drive the unit but I never could connect. I am set up about 50 feet from the unit and thought that was the issue but I brought it in from my shop and set up right next to my wifi and still no luck. Like I said earlier, poor instructions. I brought my laptop out to the shop along with the unit and it works fine. I primarily work with soft wood like cypress and it did really well. I had to play with different speeds and diode strength to optimize the results. If there was a tutorial video or at least a easy to read booklet it would be helpful. The booklet provided is really a clumsy way to offer instructions where multiple languages stacked on top of one another for a novice user to understand. Don't forget you have to get software. There is a reason GRBL is free! I am using Lightburn and it works fine. But $99 for the software.
